| Note: Revamp of an old rp Starstruck: The Sky Is Not the Limit Genre: Romance, drama, slice of life, action, comedy Starry-eyed Soulmates One more gaze into your eyes Before we meet our demise As we hide under his guise Full of the untruths and lies Bonds broken along with ties All I desire is a last embrace Sweet embrace, sweet embrace Warmth spreading through us Spirits lifting Doubts sinking The universe swallows everything whole Frowning upon foolish decisions Preparing to tear our lives apart I’ll carve a last smile onto your face Traveling faster than the speed of light Bracing you through harmful impacts Silent forces all around Separating our entwined fingers Forbidding any contact All I desire is a last embrace Sweet embrace, sweet embrace Cold frosting our veins Spirits sinking Doubts lifting One more gaze into your eyes Before we meet our demise As we hide under his guise Full of the untruths and lies Bonds broken along with ties Background Story A SMALL NOTE: Humans are selfish. Their “needs” are merely wants. Therefore, we call them a disgrace to all creatures. Whenever Earthlings see a shooting star, it's a glimmer of hope, a chance to wish for intangible things that are out of their reach. They expect too much, believing that a bit of luck will make the impossible come true. For years, we’ve been unable to decipher the complexity of the behavior and information stored inside their puny brains. How are they so ignorant when someone somewhere in the world (or galaxy, for that matter) is much worse off than them? The answer has yet to appear, but there are more pressing matters we have to tend to. One of our own has been sent down to the accursed wasteland, known otherwise as Earth and we’re not sure how to retrieve him. You ask, “Who’s to blame?” That brings us to the Earthling, a girl well into her teenage years. We began watching her as soon as she made contact with him. Facts: She wants to be featured on the headline of a newspaper. She wants to be recognized by people wherever she goes. She wants to meet a star. She wished for the last and well, that’s how this whole mess came to be. Plot It just so happened that the heavens decided to grant the girl's wish. The shooting star is separated from his constellation family and whisked away to Earth. Causing a national crisis when he lands and creates a crater, the star winds up meeting the girl. The media scrambles to snap pictures, while there's a manhunt out for him and his associate. The girl regrets her wish, but it's too late to turn back. All she has to do is evade the authorities, find out who he really is, and get him back home. It shouldn't be too challenging, right? Rules 1. Follow all terms and guidelines. 2. Literacy is a must. 3. Post at least once a week. 4. Creativity please. | Subject: Faust Wed Jan 30, 2013 9:53 pm | |
| *Name* Faust
*Spot* Shooting Star
*Gender* Male
*Age* Appears to be eighteen
*Personality*
["Change requires me to take a leap of faith, and that will never happen."]
Due to the way he was brought up, Faust prefers having a little bubble surrouding him at all times. He is extremely conservative, never wanting to leave his comfort zone. With change, he is the equivalent to a blind newborn baby. No matter what--even with coaxing, bribing, or threatening--he will not take a risk unless he strongly wants to. Beyond cautious and paranoid, Faust often appears to be jumpy (i.e. reacting to the slightest drop of temperature by shivering). He rarely lets his guard down due to anticipating the next moves. Being five steps ahead of someone else provides you with the upper hand. Although not the brightest, he can be strategic when he puts his mind to it, yet when faced with inordinate amounts of pressure--such as making a life-changing decision--it's not a pretty sight. Faust doesn't know how to keep himself calm. He is unpredictable because he shows a plethora of emotions. One moment he can be excessively modest and timid, the next he can be agressive and fly into an apoplectic rage. He doesn't thrive under stress; that's for sure.
When other people are put into the mix, his behavior simply depends on whether he likes someone or not. He rarely trusts anyone because they could potentially betray him later on. There's not much more to it. As for his beloved ones, Faust is naturally protective of them, but he knows to back off if he is unwanted. Helping strangers is out of the question, which proves how hard it is to get close to him since everyone was once a stranger. He doesn't offer his help for free, even if the person in need had saved him previously or did a favor. If people are peristent enough and they put up with his behavior, they will see a different side of Faust. He is proper, sometimes using obsolete language and he can be unintentionally funny. Most importantly, you know someone means the universe to him if he sacrifices everything in order to save him or her.
*Biography*
Note: This will be brief, seeing as how he's a shooting star. Plus, there are events that I would like to be revealed progressively in the rp.
Faust was quite a boomer. He shined brightly, more than the others in his constellation. He was happy with his family and one close friend. His peaceful, yet monotonous life was interrupted when a human girl called on him. He didn't know what was happening to him. Now on Earth in a human body, he has to figure out how to get back or else he'll end up in the wrong hands.
*Other*
Friend Faust's best--perhaps only--friend is Halley. She's a comet that he saw one time. She had gone by fast, but he still felt like he made a connection. She came rarely, but they bonded almost instantaneously.

| Subject: Taylor (Torilistic) Wed Jan 30, 2013 9:58 pm | |
| [size=11] Name: Taylor McClendon Spot: Human Girl Gender: Female Age: Eighteen (18) Personality: [Mature] Even though Taylor isn't the oldest of her siblings, she was always the one that carried the family's burdens in times of crisis. Thus, she is rather mature for her age, for she sees reality for what it truly is the clearest and understands life is no fairytale. Not only so, Taylor has practically been forced to play the role of an adult, and a good one, for that matter. Even at the age of eighteen, Taylor's expectations needed her to be twenty-five. She was always several years ahead of her real age, whether she wanted that or not. It seemed as if she has missed a stage of her life--her teenage years. Taylor has jumped from a care-free child to a motherly teen. Because of this, Taylor was required to attain more knowledge, more patience, and more kindness. Nowadays, whenever she is walking down the streets, she is easily mistaken as a young widow taking care of her children. She doesn't bother to correct them, either, because they are somewhat true. [Motherly] Upon her sudden change into a caretaker, Taylor's teen-like personality has somehow morphed into a more motherly one. She has more patience with children, and is more tolerant. She gets less irritated when a child spills their milk, and more protective of her younger brothers and sisters. Her cooking has improved quite a bit, and she can take more pressure. All of these traits she has developed over the years point her to what a mother ought to be. Taylor cannot help but change, for she knows that she'll never get the chance to worry about boys like a teenager, nor will she be fussing about what dress to wear to the prom. She'll never get to get irritated with her parents or fight with her siblings. She never be able to go through her rebellious stage. And if she will never get to do those things, she might as well change her personality, along with her role. Fate doesn't take your opinions into account, thank you very, very much. [Intelligent] Even before having been forced to take on the role of a mother-like guardian for her many younger siblings, Taylor was always the smartest girl in each of the classes she took in school. Her grades never dipped below an A, and her notes were practically like textbooks. She was, and is, a hard worker, and earns most of the good things in her life. If it weren't for everything that forced her to quit high school, she would have most likely been accepted into every single one of the colleges she sent applications to. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, and she never will attend college. But even so, Taylor has continued her studies, and her intelligence has not decreased. In fact, it had most likely increased. Besides the textbook smartness she has, she is also very smart when it comes to real life situations. She can create plans in a matter of minutes, and is capable of turning some of the most useless things into treasured tools. [Paranoid] Taylor is rather paranoid. What exactly is she paranoid about? In truth, Taylor herself isn't quite sure. She is afraid of breaking down. She is terrified of not being able to play her role as a parent correctly. She is scared of turning into a monster. Or, if we were to clash all of these phobias together, and widen the fear itself, we come to the realization that she fears she is, or may become, a bad parent. She is deathly afraid of cracking under the pressure, afraid that she'll go crazy, and have her own siblings fear her. She is terrified that she might be teaching her brothers and siblings incorrectly, that she is setting a bad example for them. And finally, she is scared that her annoyance towards their immature behavior will turn to hate, and she will become a monster, a heartless creature. Would any of her siblings, I wonder, believe that while Taylor is laughing and smilng, these thoughts are running through her head? [Optimistic] After everything Taylor's been through, one would think she's become a sour woman who'll never smile again. And truly, she feels this way every once in a while when a group of gossiping girls of the exact same age as her passes by, giggling about boys and such. She sometimes just wants to stop smiling and babying everyone around her. She sometimes wants to flip through the forgotten stash of magazines stuffed all the way back inside her closet. She sometimes wants to give the burden to someone else for a change, and relive the feeling of being a child again. But then, it occurs to her that there is nobody who'll take her burden anymore. It occurs to her the the entire reason she's in this mess is because noone is left to carry the responsibilities. It occurs to her that if she doesn't smile and act like it's easy, her siblings will be afraid. And she couldn't do that. So as of now, she'll look on the bright side, and give hope to those who still believe in it, unlike herself, who is positive that no happy ending awaits her. Biography: [Part 1: Family] - Spoiler:
It had only been half a year after their marriage, but Kelly McClendon was already pregnant with two baby twins. The firstborn was a boy. He had Kelly's black hair, but her husband's, Daniel, green eyes. A beautiful boy, he was. Minutes later, the girl's birth followed as well. She had silky hair that was so rich in color, it looked more golden than blond, followed by deep blue orbs that sparkled like the sea from Kelly, though her's were somewhat like the sky, and not the ocean. It was decided fairly quickly that the boy's name would be Harry, for Daniel was a rather big Harry Potter fan, and his newborn son resembled the protagonist immensely, much to his delight. Meanwhile, Kelly stuck to Taylor for the baby girl. And so, the McClendon family attained two new members, and the family was finally formed. Daniel, Kelly, Harry, and of course, Taylor McClendon.
Now, Kelly had always adored children. And she felt that simply having two children just wasn't enough. What if Harry and Taylor got into a fight? They ought to have somebody else to turn to, no? And it would be most unwise for parents themselves to side with their own children. Thus, two years after the birth of Harry and Taylor, Kelly became pregnant with another baby girl. This time, she was practically the identical twin of Kelly. With the same black hair and blue eyes, the only part of her that resembled her father was her nose, which was long and slender. A fairly pretty girl. She was named Anna. But even so, this did not satisfy Kelly. Two girls and one boy would no doubt make Harry lonely. Three years later, another child was born, this time, a baby boy with black hair and green eyes. He was named William. But of course, Kelly was slightly irked. Why was there only one blond-haired girl and three black-haired others? So, once more, she had another child. With dirty blond hair and green eyes, Kelly was finally content, and the baby boy was named Andrew.
Harry, Taylor, Anna, William, and Andrew. Five children and two parents. The McClendon family had grow from two members to seven. Kelly had once suggested they adopt a small orphan girl with the name Sarah, whom she had grown close to, but one exasperated look from Daniel told her that he'd hit his limit. No more children. Harry and Taylor were always arguing, and Anna was always trying to fit in with the two, for she felt that she was to be group in the "older children" section. Meanwhile, William would always be trying to get rid of Andrew, who clung onto him everyday. If Sarah joined the family, the roof of the house would certainly blow off from all the chaos. A truly amusing family, the McClendons were. Kelly and Daniel had never been happier. And you could imagine the couple's delight upon finiding out just how talented Taylor was. She was a straight A student, a kind soul, and had a beautiful singing voice. Once she'd reached the age of eleven, Taylor was already well-known in the school and around the neighborhood, for she sang at school talent shows and festivals. She was on her road to success.
[Part 2: Breaking] - Spoiler:
It was when Taylor was just beginning her high school years as a freshman did things start to go downhill for the family. Daniel was suddenly fired from his work, due to an incident in which he was the prime suspect, though he was actually quite innocent. Kelly had become a housewife, since no babysitter ever dared to apply for a job at the McClendon house upon finding out there were precisely two squabbling teenagers, a snobby know-it-all, a crybaby, and a rebel baby to take care of for mostly the entire day. And because of this, it dawned on the couple that no family member was employed and working, with the exception of Harry, who worked part-time in a nearby McDonald. He refused to spend his money on anyone but himself, anyways. Even more, there were so many mouths to feed. The money stored in their bank accounts wasn't going to last a lifetime. Something needed to be done. And quickly.
As the year dragged on, Daniel tried hard to earn a living again. Kelly managed to get a job at the McDonald's place Harry worked at (in which he wasn't too happy about). Meanwhile, Taylor and Anna helped out with yard sales and such. William tried to help as well, by collecting spare coins on the streets. The family was off to a good start, but not good enough. However, the saved money at the bank managed to keep the family from taking measures too drastic. But as the year ended and Taylor and Harry became sophmores, things changed from bad to worse. the orphanage in which Sarah lived in, due to the bad economy, was soon to be closed down. Caseworkers left and right stuffed orphans into foster homes. But no matter what, Sarah was never chosen. She was far too young to live on her own, but since no one was taking her in and the orphanage was closing down, she would have to be shipped off to another one. Kelly couldn't stand that. She and Sarah had become so close, they were practically mother and daughter. And so, despite Daniel's protests, Kelly adopted Sarah. Another mouth to feed. But what was worse, was the fact that Daniel and Kelly's relationship was cracking.
Times were hard. Taylor and Harry were entering their junior year, and the economy was worse than ever. The family was forced to sell their house and move into a tiny apartment. But even that wasn't enough. Daniel couldn't find a job. Even Kelly was struggling to mantain her occupation as a waitress. Sarah, the blessed girl, tried to be of help, but could do nothing. Taylor gave up half of her college tuition, and promised her heartbroken parents she'd earn a scholarship. Harry, having been slightly motivated by Taylor's sacrifice, gave up a third of his own, along with most of his small salary savings. In truth, Taylor, and maybe even Harry's, real reason of forking over their money was most liking an attempt to put an end, or at least lessen, the growing tension between their parents. Ever since Sarah's adoption, Daniel and Kelly had begun to spend nights yelling at each other, believing the children were already fast asleep. Daniel accused Kelly of being too kind, and that it was turning her blind. Kelly responded by telling him that he was a selfish jerk. Then more tension would rise. Whenever morning came, though, tired smiles would replace scowls. Smiles would replace tears. But Taylor knew. And Harry did, too.
[Part 3: Abandonment] - Spoiler:
The fighting continued, however. And in due time, both reached their limit. Their frustration, their anger, overpowered their love. A divorce form was filled. The children were split apart. Taylor, Andrew, and Sarah stayed in the city with Kelly, while Harry, Anna, and William moved with Daniel to his hometown out in the countryside. The realization that the family was splitting apart hit the younger children hard. But Taylor was expecting it, as was Harry. And so, with some final hugs and kisses, tears and farawells, the McClendon family was ripped apart. But things never did get better. Kelly cried every night in the bedroom she used to sleep in with Daniel. Andrew and Sarah remained clueless, but Taylor, soon to be a senior in high school, could understand. She knew. As time passed, Taylor, now a senior, gave up more and more of her scholarship. Taylor was forced to quit most of her after school clubs in order to fit her different part-time jobs into her schedule. She hardly had anytime to complete her homework, and stayed up late filling in college applications, wondering how she was to pay the tuition even if she were accepted.
Eventually, the stress, as well as the burden that had been placed onto Kelly's weak shoulders, managed to crack her. She was lonely, for no partner shared her pain anymore. She was pressured, for the lives of three children rested in her hand. She was tired, for she had spent her entire day working, and rarely ate. She was finished, for anything would be better than this living hell she was going through. Halfway through Taylor's senior year, Kelly comitted suicide and left her three children to fend for themselves. Taylor never felt the betrayal, nor the anger. Because she realized, as she stared down at her mother's lifeless body, just who had caused this: Taylor. Herself. She was seventeen. Nearly eighteen. But what had she done? She'd given up her scholarship. That helped yes, but only added more to Kelly's burden. Taylor, whether she meant it or not, had pressured Kelly. The guilt. It would have killed any parent as loving as her own. Why hadn't she made something up, said she won a small lottery or something? Anything. Taylor did more of these things. She sacrificed this, gave up that. Just what had she done, killing her mother bit by bit?
With no other close relatives to turn to, Taylor, Andrew, and Sarah were sent off to Daniel's hometown, grieving over their mother's unfortunate death, but still somewhat anticipating the reunion of the other siblings. When they arrived however, they were heartbroken to find out that Daniel had become an alcoholic, due to the similar stress that Kelly had gone through. Harry, meanwhile, had reached eighteen, and moved out to live by himself, leaving Anna and William, abandoned and fearing the abusive father Daniel had become when coming home, throughly drunk. Taylor, though she was terrified, kept up a brave front, and tried to protect her younger siblings from harm, for she was the oldest, and the one who was to be the most responsible. But once, Daniel did lose complete control, and tried to force himself on Taylor. This was enough for her to call the police, and watch silently as her last and remaining parent was dragged away and tossed into jail. Taylor, though her knees were weak and her hands shook, swallowed her fear, her sadness, and smiled.
She smiled for the remaining family she had: Anna, William, Andrew, and Sarah.
[Part 4: Wishes] - Spoiler:
It was fairly obvious that Taylor was incapable of attending the rest of her senior year, not to mention college. She had four children to take care of, the oldest being sixteen, the youngest seven. Thus, she did not bother enrolling in a new school, and ignored the accepted college invitations to each of the appilications she sent in. Rather, she dedicated her time to find a job, and to raise her siblings correctly. The economy was gradually improving, and using the last of her college tuition, as well as the remaining money left in the bank, Taylor managed to pull the family back together. She worked hard to earn money from her multiple jobs, which included a waitress, cashier, and professor assistant. Anna would sometimes help Taylor gather money by selling her paintings, since she proved to be rather talented when it came to arts and crafts. All in all, the family was still poor, but weren't needy and desperate anymore.
Meanwhile, Taylor visited the library everyday to study, as a way to make up for not going to college. She would take Anna, William, Andrew, and Sarah along, stay there until one of the children grew bored, and then drive them back home to make lunch. Taylor tried to act content with the life the McClendons were leading, even though secretly, she was far from it. She wanted to sing. She wanted to become a famous star. She wanted to be rich. She wanted to put an end to the misery she and the others were going through. But that was impossible. She couldn't leave these siblings of her's. But Anna, perhaps inheriting Kelly's ability to read emotions, realized that in many ways, Taylor was like Kelly, always bottling things up, pressuring herself, working too hard. And she feared that one day, like Kelly, Taylor would explode from all the stress. She feared that Taylor would turn into mother or father or even Harry, for that matter. So one day, right before bedtime, and the other children were already fast asleep, she consulted the sister who had become her mother. Anna, first of all, did not bother beating around the bush, and addressed the problem straight on.
"You're not happy."
Taylor was throughly confused, though a small, unrecognizable part of her understood, for though she'd given up on her life goal, she clung onto one small hope: to meet a star. To be able to tell them of her life, and perhaps sing a song for them, to show them her talent. Sitting down at the edge of William's bed, she smiled at Anna, "What was that, Anna dear?"
"You're not happy," Anna repeated, "You're not satisfied. You don't like the lifestyle you're leading right now. You yearn for something more."
"Oh, Anna. I..." Taylor gently tugged at a strand of her golden hair, "I couldn't possible think that. Even...even if that were the case, you know I would never leave you and the others." Taylor, deciding that Anna was hitting the edge, quickly gave her a kiss on the forehead and smiled at her, "It's getting late. Why don't you go to sleep, now?"
Anna, upon realizing that Taylor's reply would the the closest thing to a confession, nodded reculantely and stood up to go to her own room. Before she left, though, she turned to face Taylor, the light behind her casting a warm glow that surrounded her, "You know..." Anna paused for a minute, "Mom once told me that if you make a wish upon a shooting star, your wish will come true. You should try it."
And with that, Anna was gone.
Others: [Anna McClendon] Anna has black hair and blue eyes. She, out of the entire family, is the most practical. Some mistake her as pessimistic, but after everything she's gone through, it's no wonder Anna doesn't give a damn about fairytales anymore. She's polite and cold towards most people, and the fact that her face rarely shows any emotion gives her a distant aura. She is a very kind, girl, however, and cares deeply for her family, but just doesn't show it. [William McClendon] William has black hair and green eyes. He, with all due respect, is somewhat a nerd, as well as a dork. He is very sensitive and is easily insulted, not to mention the fact that he rarely speaks and keeps to himself. He prefers his books over socializing anyday, but Taylor insists that he needs to talk more, and is currently trying her best to get him more active when it comes to school activities. [Andrew McClendon] Andrew has blond hair and green eyes. The comic relief of the family. Despite all the unfortunate events the boys has gone through, he was the only one who mantained his cheery smiles and playful jokes. Somehow, he is aware of the fact that the weak family is one blow from caving in, and perhaps, that is why he must continue to laugh in place for the empty stares. For he is a child, and all he can do is encourage those who are working for his benefit. [Sarah McClendon] Sarah has auburn hair and hazel eyes. Though she has a good heart, she is a very timid soul, and is of nearly no use when it comes to earning money. She is young, weak, and far too afraid of everything. However, much like the encouragment Andrew's role serves, Sarah is most likely a sign of hope, and a reason to continue living on and working hard. For she is fragile, and can't help but make the others want to protect her.
