Dear Residents of this vast underworld,

How is everyone? May Hades smile down upon you all. He is most certainly not smiling down at me at this moment. But …

"It is the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more."
~ Albus Dumbledore

Dark Requiem | Sign-Up Dark_r12

What if... the sun stopped shining? What if the Earth was doomed to fall and drown in darkness... forever?

Story
It's the year 2022. Life is bearable for some, torturous for others. Some live their lives in happiness, while others have sunk in regret and sorrow. It's a normal world. A world exactly like ours. Forever changing. Forever the same.

Until the sun turns off.

It happens suddenly, unexpectedly. One moment it's a normal afternoon, and suddenly, without a moment's warning, everything goes black. Pitch-black.
Screaming. Everyone is screaming. Children are crying. There's a sound of a loud crash before the sun flickers back on. Everyone stares in horror at the overturned, flaming cars that have inexplicably crashed into each other, their drivers trying desperately to escape. People scramble away from it before a loud explosion rocks the Earth. The cars have been reduced to black, charred... things. Blood splatters the windshields of nearby cars. A lone boy cries beside the ruins.

Everyone is silent.

It's not long before every T.V. station, every radio program, is broadcasting news about the sun. Everyone is advised to stock up on food and remain inside. Scientists are trying to figure out the problem, say the news reporters, everything will be fine, they say.

They're wrong.

The blackouts increase. And increase. And increase. Scientists have countless theories. UV rays have weakened. Asteroids have slammed into the Sun, decreasing its plasma. Everyone is panicking. Oh no, the world is going to end.
In the midst of fear, no one realizes the mutilations. The sun has begun to emit different kinds of rays. When the scientists realize what's happening, it's too late. The new rays are even more poisonous to the skin than ultraviolet rays. Everyone begins to call them the Dark rays. People get infected, and only a few months later, a quarter of the Earth's population has been complete wiped out. Some who don't die, change... they lose their sense of morality, their skin black and oily, feasting on other humans. And the death toll is increasing.
But some are unaffected. For reasons unknown, they have developed an immunity to the D-Rays. Still, those who aren’t affected are scarce. One in five million people, approximately, are immune. And every day the dark period lasts longer.

Hell seems to be drawing near.

The sun - a raging ball of fire - shines brighter than ever. The few remaining survivors stare up at the Sun through bolted windows, hope kindling. The days begin to even themselves out: Night and day each as long as they used to be. That day one last television broadcast is made before the cable goes out for good.

"A scientific base and Sanctuary has been constructed in the building prior known as the White House. This is out last resort to find a way to wipe out the Black creatures—the Tenebrai—and stop the D-rays for good. Until then, everyone is advised to stay inside.
I repeat: everyone is advised to STAY INSIDE. Do not attempt to escape. I repeat, DO NOT—”

The T.V. screen goes blank.

Dark Requiem | Sign-Up Dark_r14

You are one of the few survivors in the New World. For some reason, the Dark Rays do not affect you like they have affected so many others. You've lost your family. friends, everyone you loved. Memories of them haunt you every night. Your dreams are only nightmares.

For almost a year now, you’ve survived, and now your supply has finally run out. You’ve seen the broadcast. You know your only choice is to get to Washington D.C. - the only place that is safe now. And just like that, the decision is final. You will escape these walls. You will be free. And no one will stand in your way.

No one, of course, except the Tenebrai.

But you're smart. You've learnt that these oily creatures only come out during the dark. It seems the sun still has a bad effect on them. You know how hard it will be to survive, to be able to reach Sanctuary. You'll have to travel by day and spend your nights in the abandoned houses littered across the streets. You'll have to be ready for Flickering. It'll be dangerous. But you have no choice.

You have to try.

Terms

Asylians
A common word used to refer to those who are immune.
Note: immune does not mean complete immunity.
After five hours of direct contact with the sun,
even Asylians are in danger of turning
- this fact was broadcasted by scientists before cable was disconnected.

Dark Day
Also known as D-Day (number two).
The day of the First Flicker.

Flickering
The act of flickering done by the sun; times when the sun shuts down;
moments of darkness at times of light.

Dark Rays
Or D-Rays; rays emitted by the sun that have the
power to transform humans into Tenebrai.

Dark Requiem | Sign-Up Rain210

1. All Forum, Site Rules, and Guild Rules apply.
2. Violence and romance allowed, and somewhat encouraged, but keep it PG-15
3. No godmodding or perfect characters, please.
4. At least one post every two days, preferably a lot more.
5. No one liners: Each post needs to be at least five lines long, no exceptions.
6. Do not alter the story. I tried to keep the plot vague for that very reason.
7. Everyone controls the time of the day. Any RPer can talk about nightfall. However, I want it to be placed at regular intervals, at least every two to three pages. If I find a post about the sun rising or setting too quick, you'll have to edit the post. Same goes for the Tenebrai: all Rpers can control them.
8. Keep the story as realistic as possible.
9. Competition allowed.
10. You are allowed a maximum of two characters as long as they do not become each other's love interests/siblings.

"If the world is made of light and darkness... We'll be the darkness."
~ Riku, Kindom Hearts 2

Normals
Have been surviving, locked up in houses and leaving occasionally for food and other things. Have survival skils, but not very good fighters and don't have a lot of stamina.

1. The Bad-Tempered Older Sibling | M/F | Competing - ZephyrSolace
Lives with younger sibling in their original home; cares greatly for Soft-Hearted Younger Sibling. Has a temper and anger-management issues that only younger sibling can alleviate.

2. The Soft-Hearted Younger Sibling | M/F | Open
Lives with older sibling in their original home; cares greatly for Bitter Older Sibling. Is very sweet and slightly naive, but also perceptive. Does not like fighting.

3. The Bitter Introvert | Male | Taken - SoraAngel
The usual bully victim in high school; is very serious almost all the time; doesn't trust people easily; hates himself greatly for many things.

4. The Artist in Denial | M/F | Competing - SeKaira
Ever since a few weeks ago when the flickering starting, has been in denial of the whole situation altoghether; has almost created a world of their own.

Venturers
For specific reasons, they have grown on the streets and have learned how to fend off Tenebrai. They're quick on their feet and possess a lot of stamina.

1. The Curious Scientist | M/F | Competing - Torillistic
Has been researching alone; trying to figure out Tenebrai characteristics;
has ample curiosity regarding the sciences; keeps travelling to further knowledge.

2. The Brazen Mechanic | M/F | Open
Has lived in more broken down areas of the world - junkyards, etc. Is very good with machines and the like; often sarcastic and sassy.

3. The Eccentric Blue Knight | Male | Taken - SoraAngel
Was a traveler even before the Flickering started; comedic; enjoys living on the edge, but also has a deeper, more secretive side.

4. The Struggling Foreigner | M/F | Competing - OurStars
Recently moved to America on a whim; does not know English very well but is generally good-intentioned.

Note: I'm looking for at least four spots being taken. Make sure you see how many males and females there are so we can balance out the genders, but it'll be OK if we don't manage to do that - though I would prefer it. Have freedom with your character! Ask me if you want to change something major.

Dark Requiem | Sign-Up Allen_zpsa02bc535

『Name』
Allen

『Age』
19 (Nineteen)

『Gender』
Male

『Personality』
-Curious / Easily Distracted / Annoying-
Be it Tenebrai or the White House or even something as silly as why a person likes cats, Allen can't help but ask questions and be curious. Over the years, he's become a bit obsessive with finding answers, and is always wanting to know everything about everything, for as a scientist, he genuinely enjoys doing research and collecting data, despite how useless it may be, to store into his brain for further use. Though things such as the Tenebrai fascinate him, it is actually humans like himself that leave him in awed wonder. He loves to question people on why they do things, their pasts, how it's affected them, and other personal things of sort. Besides his scientist side, it is simply his natural nosiness and lack of understanding that sometimes, it's best to leave things unsaid.

On another note, Allen can also be easily distracted by his curiosity. In the middle of an argument Allen can almost immediately forget his anger when he spots you charge forward with much skill. He'll first dodge your attack, of course, and then presume to launch into a series of ridiculous questions. "Amazing! Was that planned? How did you do that? Did you not shift your left ankle clockwise twenty degrees in order to..." And so forth, until eventually your anger dies out and you cannot help but stare at the green-headed dork incredeously. In other situations, (more grave ones, say) Allen is actually idiotic enough to pause during a Tenebrai attack to literally question it ("Incredible! The weight of your wings don't affect your speed at all! Why is that? Could it be that the muscles actually produce...")

Although such questions asked in all the wrong times may sound funny and even adorable, one must truly understand just how annoying Allen can get. The constant bugging from him when one refuses to answer a question, how much danger he is unnecessarily putting himself in due to his curious and easily distracted nature, and his lack of regard for personal space and knowing when he's crossed the line and enough is enough can all add up to a truly irritating, troublesome, and unintentionally offensive "friend". Allen knows this and yet, for some reason, cannot quite stop himself. He is simply too curious and thirsty for knowledge, be it useful or no.

-Dense / Blunt / Friendly-
Aside from the fact that Allen's got the emotional range of a teaspoon , he is also very dense. It's not that he's self-centered or conceited--he simply finds it hard to be able to pick up on what a person is feeling by mere actions and slight facial expressions. If you were to ever drop a hint or two in hopes of being able to make him catch on without any actual confrontation, then you might as well hope for straw to spin into gold. Allen's a good person and all, but if it's one thing he can't read, it's people--which is also why he's so keen to find out everything about them. But despite how much human behaviors amaze him, he still wishes they would simply speak up so as to prevent all the "awkwardness".

Allen, personally, sees no reason as why it's so hard. Be it talking about himself or others, he is very open and blunt. For him, he believes that speaking about painful pasts cannot do anything to you but make you stronger. If you've actually suffered through it, it should not be a feat to speak of it. His past is, let's say, not the prettiest, but if asked about it, Allen will not hesitate to explain, and he can do it as easily as blinking an eye. And as for speaking up, this confuses him even further. He is very much the antonym of "shy" or "non-confrontational", and doesn't see what is so frightening about it. Thus, Allen can be painfully direct and blunt about many things, be it how thin one's hair is or how one is biting their nails or why they're crying.

But even Allen knows the difference between "thickheaded" and "heartless". He really doesn't mean to be so dense, and when you are fine and happy and well, he can be of the most lovable and dear people you will ever meet. Extremely easy to talk to and genuinely eager to listen to everything you say, Allen can come off as a very friendly soul. This is because he actually does make an effort to get to know you and learn about whatever you are willing (and not-so-willing) to give to him. The only thing is, chance are, he's only interested because he's curious about not you specifically, but humans in general, nothing more. Yet, once you manage to befriend him, he is truly a joy to have around.

-Intelligent / Purposeful / Stubborn-
The more serious and logical side of Allen, you could say. First and foremost, despite how dense and air-headed he may seem, it is always a deadly mistake to underestimate the young man's intelligence. He is, after all, a scientist (a self-proclaimed one, anyways) and the son of a highly respected and admired man. Although Allen is a bit slow to catch on with human and their silly emotions that change so constantly, he is actually very good at logical and solid things such as mathematics and science. He can recite facts and important dates by sheer memory and can really come in handy when one needs a walking dictionary or textbook.

Although Allen seems a bit empty-headed and void of any goals in life other than to survive and be happy, he is actually a very purposeful man who rarely does things that will not benefit to him. Although he isn't uptight to the point where he calculates his every move, Allen does remain one step ahead of most people, and will usually have a Plan B ready to use at a moment's notice. Furthermore, Allen does have a goal he wishes to accomplish for the sake of loved ones and himself. It's something he had dedicated his entire being and future to, and as of now, it's all that he can see. He refuses to look even beyond that, for fear of losing sight of what he is so determined to do.

It is a fact that once Allen has set his eyes on something, it is impossible to try and lead him astray. Be it little things ("I will have the blueberry lollipop! I will! You shall never enchant me with the strawberry!") or big things ("No. I will not pet the cat. Just no."), Allen seems to tune everybody out once he has decided to do something. Although this can be annoying for the most part (as his stubbornness also pertains to his obsession with trying to write your entire biography), it can also be something that people admire him for, especially when it comes to impossible or truly significant things and goals to achieve.

『Bio』
Allen Carroway was born to the arranged marriage of Adeline-Eclair Lafleur and Matthew Carroway, the chairman of APFWC, the Association of the People's Future Welfare and Comfort, an organization of scientists that worked for the government, constantly searching for new and better ways to improve the already-luxurious lives of humans. The baby was deemed a fine child and a mighty good hand that would prove good as heir by myth--he was born on the third sunrise of the fifth month, the lines in his palms mimicked that of Jupiter and Neptune's orbit, along with a variety of superstitions and what not that Matthew usually looked down upon. However, all the signs read his son as lucky, so he allowed himself an exhale and laugh.

Ten steady years passed, and Allen came to be a fine young boy, just as his birth and lines told so. He was a quick learner and naturally brilliant, and full of curiosity too, just as a scientist ought to be. But

『Talents』
-Pain-
Allen is not very sensitive to pain--he can't feel a papercut at all, a serious scrape feels like a dull thud, a bleeding wound feels like a minor burn, and a life-threatening injury is probably like a sprained ankle. Thus, during fights and whatnot, injuries do not prove much of a hindrance towards him. However, his apparent numbness to pain will actually increase the seriousness of a wound, as he will not take too heavy of precautions to cover/bandage it.

-Agility-
The many years spent in the streets and fending off Tenebrai, it seems, has paid off. As he isn't much in terms of strength, Allen's usual best bet is to either outrun the creature, set up some complicated trap (Allen finds this to be the easiest on his brain, though such an idea relies much on time and luck), or find a clever and quick way to kill off the creature. Over time, his agility has improved immensely, and as of now, it is one of his biggest weapons, along with endurance and speed.

-Memorization-
As expected of a scientist and (apparently) highly-intelligent man, Allen is not only a quicker learner, but retains the information just as easier. Visually, orally, or physically, no matter how data is displayed in front of him, Allen immediately remembers it, storing the information deep into his brain for future use, if any.

『Biggest Flaws/Fears』
-Dense-

-Eyesight-

-Failure-

『Mannerisms』
-Humming-
When bored and idle, Allen tends to hum lullabies that the maids once sung to him as a child. Mostly of the time, he doesn't notice until somebody points it out, or his throat begins to go dry or hurt.

-Censorship-
Allen tends to "censor" his curse words, as a maid had once reprimanded him countless times on "language". Thus, he compromised--he is commonly found saying "fudge", "ship", "bish", and that of the sort.

-Movements-
Allen finds it hard to stay still--nearly every few seconds, he tends to brush back his hair, adjust his glasses, play with his fingers. Whenever he is speaking to somebody, he also moves his hands around, constantly changes his facial expressions, etc.

『Dreams / What's Most Important to Them』
-Cure-
Allen hopes and dreams of one day being able to find a cure for the D-Rays and they effects they have on humans, as they were the ones that took away the little things he had.

-Potential-
Allen, who has been belittled and underestimated and unable to prove his worth for so long, believes that being able to express one's true potential is something very important. He himself wishes to have the chance to prove himself, or to simply show the world that he is more then just "his son", a boy who lives in luxuary only because of his father.

『Likes and Dislikes』
L | Music
L | Sweet Things
L | Science
L | Honesty
L | Running

D | Guesswork
D | Canned Goods
D | Being Underestimated
D | Cats
D | Sleep

『Other』
- Allen keeps a small coil of wire at hand, mostly for the sake of playing with it when he's bored. Uncoiled, it reaches about five yards.

- It's rather embarrassing for Allen to admit, but his favorite and most handy weapon is actually a set of spoons, forks, and knives, three of each. He usually dips them in Tenebrai blood, a substance lethal to Tenebrai and human alike.

- Allen keeps a small small journal by his side to record down details of his research and occasionally, small pieces of lyrics that he can remember from his childhood years.

Dark Requiem | Sign-Up KagamineLenWhoasig_zps6c8877e3

Spot: The Bitter Introvert

❖---❖-❖---❖-----❖-----❖---❖-❖---❖

Name: Charlie
Age: 17
Gender: Male

❖---❖-❖---❖-----❖-----❖---❖-❖---❖

Personality:

{ Austere }

Charlie is almost always serious. His expression is always determined or solemn, and he hardly ever loosens up, even in a situation that may seem light. He is never at ease with his surroundings or, in fact, himself. He never stops thinking - whether it concerns the next action or plain reflection, Charlie's mind is always whirring. Buried deep in self-loathing, he doesn't let many things distract him. His hatred for himself, although not obvious, spurs many of his actions.

When it comes to his judgement of others, he is usually just as strict, and is quick to draw conclusions or question and condemn others for their actions. He doesn't forgive easily, although he does not keep grudges against anyone. He is very mature for his age and doesn't let himself indulge in any luxuries - one, because he does not think he deserves them, and two, because he believes they will draw his mind away from things that are marginally more significant. He is known to think widely about things like the future and the purpose of his existence; usually, however, he keeps thoughts like these to himself. Because of his calm and serious demeanor, Charlie handles crisis situations well, but does not have the reflexes and stamina to live on the streets as a venturer and chooses to stay inside in a meaningless attempt at survival, which is also something he questions every day.

{ Intense }

Everything Charlie does has always been well-thought out previously. While he works, he sets his mind to whatever is at hand and thinks of nothing else and no one else. just the task that lies in front of him. Because of this, he does everything with a large amount of intensity, through-and-through. His way of thought has made him almost apathetic to certain things, especially if he is not considering them at the time and is only looking at the main expected outcome. He's rarely ever confused or uncertain. Charlie's gaze is also something very intense - he is not bothered by appearances or his own image displayed to others, and doesn't care if he stares at someone or something more than necessary. His words are not always carefully chosen - they can be blunt or harsh, but always true in his own mind.

{ The Greater Good }

Charlie is the kind of person who ends up looking at the "bigger picture" or in other words, the "greater good." A flaw as well as a trait, Charlie ends up overlooking the direct values and potential results of an action and looks straight to things that will, in his opinion, ultimately matter way more. Because of this, Charlie's words can often be found harsh, and his actions can seem less moral in most people's eyes. However, this doesn't faze him - he honestly doesn't care what people think of him, and doesn't make a big deal out of not caring either. He lives life as if the future is something unattainable, and doesn't have many bright or idealistic goals. In fact, most of the time he just stays out of reality's way and only acts for "the greater good." He accepts the actions that are thrown at him, but does not go out of his way to do things one would consider morally right. After the apocalypse, Charlie kept himself locked away inside his house as the remaining days of his life eroded away.

{ Distant }

Although he's not cold or an obvious loner, Charlie doesn't often share his personal details like his past or certain opinions that aren't relevant to the situation. At the same time, however, he doesn't redirect questions he may be asked. He will most likely answer directly and simply,without hassle, even if he feels the slightest bit uncomfortable doing so. If he has something on his mind in a moment, he isn't afraid to say it - but such moments are rare. Because of his past solitude in school and even his own home (or so he thinks) Charlie knows that not many people understand him, or his way of thought. So he just keeps his mouth shut most of the time until it becomes necessary to say something. He stays out of what he believes to be other people's business and does not go out of his way to make his presence known.

❖---❖-❖---❖-----❖-----❖---❖-❖---❖

Bio:

Charlie grew up with a less-than glamorous life that started out like any normal person's - he was born in an out-of-the-way hospital to a family that loved him like any other family did.

But things went downhill pretty fast. After his mother died, his father drowned himself in liquor and never-ending despair, and Charlie always had suspicions that it wasn't all from some lost love for his mother. He believed his father had always been dark, and only held back that black void back for the sake of his mother.

Charlie's brother, Leon, became his only beacon of any sort of happiness. With the constant annoyances from school through bullies and those idiots who didn't know half the things that mattered, Charlie was starting to lose focus of a real purpose in life.

And then the First Flicker happened.

After several events in rapid succession following the First Flicker, Charlie found himself alone in his house, wondering what he was supposed to do next and then, not really caring.

❖---❖-❖---❖-----❖-----❖---❖-❖---❖

Current location:
His own home.

Talents:

{ Ability to Think in Difficult Situations }
Although he isn't a venturer and hasn't faced many Tenebrai, he has learned how to think in situations that most people would freak out in. Like many others, he has lost much of his family, but he lost much more even before the Flickering began and it has given him a tough shell - so much that he seems sometimes devoid of sympathy.

Biggest flaws / fears:

{ Little Girls }
This is not a joke. Because of some secret traumatic event that Charlie isn't aware of yet, anything that has to do with girls of young age causes him to act eccentrically or even fall into a frenzy. (Little - up to the age of 8)

{ Getting Along }
Along with the fact that other people don't usually understand Charlie, Charlie himself doesn't really understand others. Because of this, his no-nonsense attitude and stony-expression don't fare well with others.

Mannerisms:

{ Staring }
Charlie doesn't glance. He stares. He doesn't realize he's being rude, and even if he does realize, he doesn't care - it's just the way he looks at things.

{ Rigid }
Charlie's whole form is usually rigid, whenever he's speaking or considering something. Even when he talks, he doesn't make many gestures.

{ Hoarse Voice }
When placed under pressure or high emotional stress, Charlie's voice becomes dry or hoarse easily. However, this doesn't happen often.

Dreams / What's most important to them:

As of yet? Nothing seems to matter. His brother Leon meant a lot to him before he left Charlie's life.

Bio:

❖---❖-❖---❖-----❖-----❖---❖-❖---❖

Talents: (At least three. Can't be unrealistic, although you can aim higher than Normals due to constant traveling and fending off Tenebrai.)
Biggest flaws / fears:
Mannerisms:

{Grinning}
Varro grins all the time, no matter how he's feeling (although he tries to keep himself happy most of the time).

{Julius Caesar}
Varro's parents kept him long enough to name him, and to this day he tries to find a reason they named him such a strange name. Varro, a minuscule servant's role from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Because of this, Varro has reread the play several times, especially Act IV Scene 3. He also tends to yell out random phrases unique to Julius Caesar.

Dreams / What's most important to them:

A while ago, he swore to protect all the younger ones that surrounded him in the orphanage. But as they all slowly left him, he found a new purpose - one that must be kept secret for now.

Likes and Dislikes:

❖---❖-❖---❖-----❖-----❖---❖-❖---❖

Other:
Varro loves the color blue, and has done so ever since he was a young boy. He dyes it every so often the color is beginning to fade, right down to his eyebrows.

Appearance:

Dark Requiem | Sign-Up Westjpg_zps96d60fdf

Spot: The Bad-Tempered Older Sibling

Name: West
Age: Nineteen
Gender: Male

Personality:

If one sentence was used to sum up West, it would be that he rarely backs down from a fight, and tends to start one even when not provoked. He usually believes that violence is the answer; he can't be bothered to try and "work things out". West doesn't have the time, or the patience. He is mostly independent; it's never clear where his loyalties lie. West does what he wants to when he wants to, and absolutely despises being bossed around.

Regarding West's interactions with other people, it's extremely difficult for him to bond and establish relationships. When it comes to strangers, he comes off as belligerent and aloof. West has severe trust issues, so don't expect him to listen to anyone without good reason. When he actually finds someone he connects with (such as East), he will become over-protective to the point where it becomes annoying. He may also be more stern with him or her, but that's just a sign that he actually cares. It's merely tough love and if people were able to receive that from him, they would consider themselves important to him.

Bio:

West had always been the black sheep, refusing to be herded into the pen his family called normality. The only aspect he had in common with them was that he believed in the same religion: Catholic. West certainly didn't believe that nothing came to be something, so he accepted that there was an almighty god. Who or what was to prove him wrong? Other than this, West shared nothing in common with the rest of his family members, most of which wanted to disown him. His unruly behavior was hard to control and he acted as if he really didn't want to be in the house.

When the flickering started, West and East were in their home. Their parents went outside to check what was happening, and well, they didn't last long because of the D-Rays. The same went for the other adults. West hated hiding out, but he followed his instincts. He eventually saw the broadcasts and heard the people constantly advising the people to stay inside. West wasn't about to simply sit there and do nothing about their predicament. Besides, there weren't enough supplies inside. He took East and fought his way through a horde of creatures until they reached a Walmart. They are currently still there, but soon, West plans to head out, determined to reach Washington D.C. where he might actually get some answers to what exactly is going on.

Current location:

//Food pantry//
West and his sister are currently in a food pantry in the family-oriented store Walmart.

Talent:

//Bluffing//
It's all just acting. West can pull off a convincing story if he needs to.

Biggest flaws / fears:

//Aggressiveness//
Being angry does fuel West and gives him more adrenaline, but in the long run, this rage makes him vulnerable. In such a state, he is more prone to make a mistake, leaving him wide open for an attack or a window of opportunity for someone to take advantage of him.

//Losing his sister//
As East is the only family member he has left, he simply couldn't imagine his life without her.

Mannerisms:

//Hands clenching into fists//
This is a sure sign that someone or something has pissed him off. It's best not to be anywhere in the vicinity or else his target's face won't be a pretty sight.

//Cracking his knuckles//
This is a habit that he picked up at a young age, and it doesn't necessarily mean that he's getting ready for a fight. West constantly does this; it's more of a "nervous tic".

//Furrowing his eyebrows//
He usually does this when confused or angry.

Dreams / What's most important to them:

//East//
Without his younger sister, West wouldn't be anchored to the real world. If he's heading in the wrong direction, she's always there to guide him. She is his everything. If someone even dares to touch a hair on her head, he or she is asking for a death wish. Without her, he might have gone down a much darker road.

//Purpose//
Instead of just surviving, West wants to make a goal for himself. What does he want to achieve in the future? Right now, it's making it to Washington D.C., but after that, there's nothing but darkness and uncertainty.

Likes and Dislikes:

{L} punching bags
{L} nighttime walks
{L} victory
{L} challenges

{D} most of his family
{D} the phrase "calm down"
{D} running away from a situation
{D} insecurity

Other:

//Religion//
It's one of the few things West willingly follows. One of his most prized possessions is a silver cross chain necklace he wears all the time.

Dark Requiem | Sign-Up LilyEvans6004249481_zpsb21b42be
[ S p o t ? ]
The Foreigner

[ N a m e ? ]
Marianna Dubois

[ A g e ?]
Nineteen

[ G e n d e r ?]
Female

[ P e r s o n a l i t y ? ]
{ Intelligent }
Although she never had a formal schooling, or rather never went to any institution, public or private, Marianna received a top-of-the-line education throughout her life, starting from the age of four. After all, from the age of three she was being put into gymnastics lessons, and the large ambitions her parents, namely her father, had for her would not allow a normal schedule. When they decided that she was ready to start school, the family hired a private tutor for the young girl, and thus she began instruction a year before the average child. At that time, she focused more on school than gymnastics, if only because she was still rather young and therefore not physically ready for the strain of full-on gymnastics training. Even as her time spent on education dwindled, Marianna surpassed the students in normal schools in her book learning. The young woman graduated at the age of sixteen thanks to her accelerated learning track. Although she may not know everything, not by a mile, the young woman is fairly decent at picking things up as she goes along, and still retains much of what she has learned. She doesn't have the problem of having sat in front of TVs or computer screens her entire life, and that somewhat gives to her mental talents. While she is by no means a genius, the young woman does have a slightly above average intellect, and can be handy when someone needs help in a pinch. Unfortunately, she cannot remember small details, and therefore isn't much use in, say, whipping up a concoction or medicinal solution. Also, a life cooped up inside does mean that her street-smarts aren't at the level that they could be, though she does possess common sense, for the most part.

{ Resourceful }
Aside from intelligence, Marianna is actually quite gifted at putting things together with whatever she has- in other words, the young woman is quite resourceful. The best application of this trait is probably seen in her ability to escape from sticky situations- something often done with quick thinking and a lucky streak. What another person may see as a regular shopping cart and a curtain rod can be a way for her to catapult her way through a mass of Tenebrai without being attacked by any of them. She has only lived in this country for a few months, maybe two or three, and her difficulty in communicating has made her capable of finding more creative methods through which to get things done. It really is a product of her intelligence and her old habit of sneaking out of the house in order to go and hang out with the more normal of children. It all really comes down to her gift for quick-thinking and thrown together solutions. Long-term plans may not always be her strong suit, because she has sights mostly for the present, but she is absolutely fantastic at short-term answers to problems. This is why she can find a place to stay safely overnight, but has been constantly moving around- she wouldn't be the most adept at figuring out a long term living situation.

{ Kind }
She may not have grown up with a very large social group or anything of that nature, but she did grow up to believe that you should treat people well, regardless of how they treat you. She'll defend herself if someone attacks her, physically or verbally, but will do her best to remain at least decent towards someone who may be a bit cold of her. Marianna has no religion, but believes in doing the right thing because it is the right thing, not because someone or something tells you to. Her morals are fairly strong, and she is rarely willing to do things that are against them, even when it is for the best. This is one flaw with her well-intentioned nature. Perhaps the best choice is to leave someone behind because they show signs of changing into a Tenebrai. Rather than doing that, she would end up staying with them until the very end, not acting negatively until they actually are completely Tenebrai, at which point she may decide that they would be happier not trapped in what she imagines as a hell-like mind, trapped by nothing but savage desires. She has never seen a Tenebrai show any signs of joy or caring, after all, and thinks of that as an empty sort of existence.

{ Impulsive & Arrogant }
While she may be intelligent, Marianna can often be more of a short-term thinker, as previously mentioned. The only exception to this was her gymnastics career, and that was more of a long-term goal assigned to her by her father and mother, not one of her own. She focused on getting through things meet by meet, and thus was able to achieve a good deal. Her short-term thought process can make her very impulsive, doing things without always thinking them through too much. Part of this stems from an arrogance that someone like her, born and raised for the sake of one thing, and then succeeding in that thing, is bound to possess. She may not be arrogant to the point of smugness, but she has that healthy amount of confidence that gives one straight posture and the ability to make decisions without second guessing herself. This is fuels such impulsive gestures as her decision to run away to America and try to live life for herself. In this new environment, a moment of hesitation can mean life or death, and she isn't making that mistake. However, impulse and instinct cannot always be relied upon, and she is bound to make mistakes by jumping into things based on what she believes is the correct choice. If someone is in trouble, others may wait and think of a battle plan, like sensible people. She will hurry to help. In a tight spot, some may assess their options to get out. Part of what enables her to escape easily is taking those essential first seconds to formulate something and run with it.

[ B i o ? ]
Marianna was born to a male Olympic Gymnast who had never actually been to the Olympics, paralyzed from the waist down very soon before he was to compete. Her mother was the daughter of his coach, they fell in love, etc, and so she was born. The pair were very young when she was conceived, only a year before Mr. Dubois was to compete, but raised their daughter rather well. Perhaps it would have been a conventional childhood, had her father not decided, subconsciously, to live vicariously through his child. From a very young age, she was trained by some of the best, raised to be an Olympic, Gold-Medal gymnast. She wasn't given the same freedom as most children, but grew up decently anyway. As she grew older, she did sneak out of the house occasionally so that she could experience a normal life, but for the most part was obedient to her parents' wishes. She went to the Olympics and one medals, both for herself and for the Belgium team. She was among the top of the world, and everything was fine. Having achieved what her parents' dreamed of for her, she decided that she was done. Perhaps it was cracking under the constant pressure, but more likely she finally just decided to stop living a dream that hadn't really been hers. Sure, she loved gymnastics, but it wasn't her life's passion. So she escaped to America, imagining a life of her own choices. She would make a place for herself, or maybe just explore for a while before returning home to tell her parents she wanted her own life.

Of course, the Flickering happened, and it became very clear that those thing were not going to happen. Everything became different. Her unusual childhood did pay off, though, for her athleticism has come in handy quite often in her survival. She's been on her own this whole time and, despite having been surrounded by others her entire life, has managed.

[ T a l e n t s ? ]
{ Multilingual }
Having been born and raised in the European nation of Belgium, a country surrounded by France, Germany and the Netherlands, Marianna was raised speaking the three official languages: French, German, and Dutch. She also speaks a little bit of English and Spanish, but only the most basic amount that a tourist or someone who has never left their region of the world for an extended period of time may know: she can ask where the bathroom is, what someone's name is, and how much something costs- the level that one might be in after taking half a year of a language. The fact that she can fluently speak three languages and has a choppy grasp of two others is admirable enough, at least in the country where people hardly bother with learning other cultures' languages. She is fairly decent with languages, and is able to pick up a few words by listening for extended periods of time, though obviously that isn't enough to help her to effectively communicate with those who speak only English.

{ Gymnast }
Before she ran away, somewhat, Marianna had been an award-winning gymnast, and had actually gone to the Olympics on the gold-medal winning Belgian team, as well as winning a silver for all-around individual, as well as a gold in Vault and Floor exercises categories. This wasn't due to a purely natural skill at all- ever since she was a very young child she has been training in gymnastics by the top instructors of her part of Europe, pushed by her parents, especially her father (an ex-gymnast who was paralyzed from the waist down before attending his own Olympics). Gymnastics was her entire life, whether she chose it or not, and this is now seen in her athletic capabilities. She has a good amount of strength, especially upper-body, but her flexibility is equally impressive. She has a relatively small form, key for those who are in the gymnastics field, and this allows her to contort her body and fit into small spaces if necessary- something which was very helpful whenever she needed to hide from the Tenebrai in a moment's notice.

{ Escape }
Marianna's life has been strictly overseen by others for as long as she can remember, even as she grew older and longed for the freedom which was kept away from her for 'her own good'. Now, obviously she wasn't exactly just going to sit by like a delicate angel, or rather a strong one, and do exactly as she was told, nothing but training and private tutoring all day long. Her parents meant well, of course, but they were simply incapable, it seemed, of remember the desire for independence that often accompanies the teenage years. To find that independence without disappointing her guardians, Marianna took the easiest way out: she would sneak out of the house. In fact, she was rather good at it, aided by her athletic abilities and the fact that her window was right next to a large old tree (her family was wealthy and had an estate of sorts in the more rural parts of Belgium). Over the years, starting when she was fifteen, Marianna became very good at sneaking out and escaping- her parents never noticed, but one of her coach's did and would secretly try and make escaping more difficult while visiting for at-home sessions. It simply came to be that Marianna's skill improved, and by now she is quite gifted at sneaking out of rather sticky situations. This has come in handy living on the streets.

[ B i g g e s t f l a w s / f e a r s ? ]
{ Handling Pressure }
Now, this isn't really a recent flaw of hers, in fact in the past the young woman has exhibited a great capacity for dealing with stressful situations in which the weight of the world seemed placed upon her small shoulders. However, that pressure never really left, and the build up replicated the snowball effect, until it was strong enough to cause the young woman to feel crushed beneath it all, to feel as though she had gotten the individuality and freedom squeezed out of her by the expectations and hopes that others had for her. For years she allowed her father to live vicariously through her, lived his dream for him, and eventually there was a crack in the foundation. That crack is why she ran away from home to come to America, and has left her unable to hold too much pressure without panicking and appearing rather incompetent. Under pressure, she tends to become overly stressed and loses her cool, doubting every choice she makes and taking on an uncharacteristic tendency to berate herself- which only adds more turbulence to her attempt to get through things. Simply put, the young woman is incompetent if too much pressure is put upon her- or at least she has convinced herself that this is the case until it seemed to have become true.

{ Communication }
Though she may have a knack for learning languages, nonverbal communication has never exactly been Marianna's forte. This makes the language barrier between her and the others especially frustrating for the young woman, because charades is a lost cause and she is hopeless when it comes to using any sort of body language or gestures to get a point across. If she cannot say something with words, it is nearly impossible for her to say it at all. In fact, even her drawings are pitiful in their obscurity and strangeness, leaving her with no real alternative other than constantly flipping through a translation book that only just barely gets the job done- if it helps at all. Even when she speaks the same language as another, Marianna is prone to misunderstanding someone's intentions, or simply getting the meaning completely mixed up with whatever had been going on in her head at the time. It isn't that her head is in the clouds, necessarily, but that it isn't entirely on the ground, either.

{ Monophobic }
Although she may express a desire for freedom and independence, Marianna has never been truly alone in the entirety of her young life. There were always parents, coaches, trainers, and teammates there beside her. People were always around the young woman, whether she knew them or not, and this made the young woman accustomed to such a lifestyle of never being alone. Now, she fears being alone, and will do what is necessary to ensure that she is not left completely on her own for extended periods of time- even if it means giving up personal supplies to tempt a person, or something else of that sort. Being alone for too long will make her slightly jttery and more anxious than she otherwise would be, until eventually the panic of being completely alone sets in and begins to terrify her. Given the choice, she would rather have to support another person than only need to deal with herself, but be completely without companionship.

{ Overly Eager to Please }
Marianna lived her life for others, to some extent, and has always taken joy out of being able to make others happy with her actions, regardless of what they are. In fact, she may occasionally become slightly carried away with this pattern, as may have been seen in the situation as a young child where she practiced a specific mood until she collapsed, convinced that it was her coach's very favorite move. This pattern has cropped up throughout the entirety of her life- finding something that makes someone happy, and proceeding to stretch herself too thin making that happen for the sake of others. She is a typically sweet person, of course, but part of this comes from the fact that seeing others smile, or receive any benefit from being around her, makes the young woman feel important, needed. Her eagerness to please may make her likely to overdo things at times.

[ M a n n e r i s m s ? ]
{ "Erm" }
Normally, Marianna's speaking is surprisingly absent of filler words of any sort, instead filled with pauses when she needs to stop and collect her thoughts. However, one filler word seems stuck inside her mind, and it is the only one that she has been heard using, as of yet- 'erm'. It is only used when she is completely speechless, not just stopping to gather her thoughts, or is trying to change the subject. One can easily tell when she is avoiding answering a question or dancing around a specific subject, because 'erm' will riddle her speech and make it seem very clumsy and lacking in eloquence.

{ Eye Contact }
Marianna is really quite obvious and slightly cliche when guilty, because she cannot make eye contact with a person when she is hiding something from them. Or rather, she can, but it is always quite blatantly forced and her eyes seem slightly too wide when this is going on. Her guilt can be read like an open book, if only one were to demand eye contact, or simply notice that she focuses over their shoulder or on their left ear when addressing a person. She will usually just look at someone's nose or ears, so that she is still technically looking at the person. Even if she isn't necessarily guilty of something, if the young woman has a secret of any sorts, she will react similarly, except to everyone rather than only the people involved (if any actually exist).

{ Laughing }
This is something which has aided some misconceptions about Marianna's personality from time to time, for there are certainly times and places where bursting out into laughter is not considered acceptable. In fact, this sort of laughter in her seems reserved for such inopportune times. When the young woman is experiencing any sort of fright or very extreme nervousness, often hand in hand, she has this uncontrollable giggling thing, which can eventually evolve further into side-splitting laughter. Honestly, she could be on a plane facing heavy turbulence, and while everyone else worries for their lives, will be laughing in her seat, desperately trying to hide it by covering her mouth or even her entire face, shoulders trembling violently from the force of the laughter. Her face tends to turn scarlet in a combination of embarrassment and laughter in these situations, making her look like a psychotic strawberry. It also is likely to happen in times of sadness, though less frequently. She once had to hide in the bathroom during a funeral because she had begun laughing, tears streaming down simultaneously. She has never been able to control it, despite several attempts to do so.

[ D r e a m s / W h a t ' s m o s t i m p o r t a n t t o t h e m ? ]
{ People }
People are, and have always been, important to Marianna, who has a reasonably sociable nature. Because her interactions with other people were slightly limited during her childhood, she always saw those who interacted normally and had plenty of friends as gods of sorts, putting them on pedestals of envy and admiration. Marianna prefers to have people around her, and appears to genuinely care about what happens to others, as can be seen in some of her actions. She places life above all else, and is the sort who would try and save both people falling off of a cliff, only to be weighed down and allow all three of them (including herself) die on the rocks below. Although she functions well without other people around her, the young woman seems to believe that company is a mandatory piece of a fulfilled life, and so does her best to meet that requirement.

{ Self-Fulfillment }
One of her goals in life is simply to be completely content and accepting of who she is and what she is doing. She wants to reach her potential, both socially and physically, but more than anything simply wants to be satisfied. To do that, she strives for self-fulfillment and, on a deeper level, the realization of why she exists and how she can reach the purpose she is given.

{ Coach }
Were it not for the flickers and the sudden changes throughout the globe, Marianna would have liked to be a coach. Not the sort that she had, who are personal trainers for those expected to do great things, but the coaches who teach classes to kids who can't afford it at community centers. Although she has left gymnastics, she cherishes the fact that she had the opportunity to pursue something with all of her might as a child, and wants to give that same opportunity to people from poor financial backgrounds. If not a coach, she probably would have liked to be a teacher of some sorts. Marianna wants to help others reach their full potential, regardless of what position she must be in to help them do that.

[ O t h e r ? ]
{ Translation Book }
Because Marianna's English is very poor, to the point where she can speak basic touristy words like 'Where is the bathroom' or 'how much does this cost', she carries around a small pocket translation book, which translates from German to English, as German is the language she spoke most frequently at home, thanks to a German housewife for a mom, and the fact that her coach was German. She seems to be constantly flipping through it to figure out what someone has said to her, or to find the words to express her own thoughts. Most of the time, she doesn't find the correct words in time to do this properly.

{ Metal Rod }
Athleticism aside, Marianna still needed something in order to defend herself with from the Tenebrai. Thus, she has been using a metal rod that she found one day in a construction site while in a pinch. She used it to deflect the Tenebrai, and has been doing so ever since. Honestly, she is more likely to push one of the creatures to the ground and keep going than fully kill one, because she thinks that it is faster and requires less energy. She can still kill one with the rod, though- it just takes a bit more of a push.

Spot; The Artist in Denial

Name; Adelheid Blackthorne
Age; Seventeen
Gender; Female
Personality;
{ Imaginative }
Adelheid certainly has a large imagination, which knows no boundaries. She has several scenarios created in her head, nearly every one completely unrealistic, for things that will probably never happen. She's a firm believer in magic (after all, if you don't believe, you'll never be able to see it, right?) and isn't ashamed to say so. Adel can be very creative with her art, sometimes coming up with different things other than her usual landscapes. They are perhaps a small idea from her head - a flower leading to all sorts of beauty and destruction. She uses art to express herself, and sometimes in surprising ways. She isn't the type to limit her thoughts, and has moments of inspiration which can incite ideas one has never heard of before. One might call her inventive if she were to actually make something out of her ideas.
{ Paranoid }
Adelheid has always had a slight bit of paranoia, but the recent apocalypse has steadily increased it. She always suspects anyone who attempts to befriend her of having an ulterior motive, or if a stranger compliments her, they are being sarcastic or it's a private joke between them and their friends. She constantly looks behind her back, sleeps with the lights on and suspects even the slightest noise of being something terrifying. She doesn't trust people easily.
{ Impulsive }
Unfortunately, Adelheid isn't very good at planning. Preparation is often thrown out the window when it comes to her, and she just goes with her gut at any given moment, even though her gut instinct mightn't always be the cleverest move. She can put herself in danger with this, but isn't exactly thinking of the possible consequences when she goes with whatever 'feels right'. Her safety and the safety of others is completely disregarded in such moments too.
{ Forgetful }
It would be a slight exaggeration to say Adel has the memory of a goldfish, but 'slight' is not, since her forgetfulness can be compared to the creatures'. Perhaps she will remember your name, and maybe your age, but your birthday? Hobbies? Family? You must be joking. It's as if she can't mush all the information into her brain, so just gives up and lets it all leave her like a balloon being popped. It's good if she remembers what she ate for breakfast that morning, let alone if she did her homework. Her behaviour is often deceived as 'careless' by teachers, her disorganisation adding to her poor memory, resulting in being in trouble in school often for forgetting books. Strangely enough, she will remember every detail of an animal or place she finds beautiful, but that is the only time her memory serves her well.
Bio;

* ~ Five ~ *
The Blackthorne family began when nineteen-year-old Ivory Gregory married twenty-one-year-old Thomas Blackthorne, exactly twenty-seven years ago. After marrying, they traveled the world together, and found themselves work. They didn't have children until years later, but they didn't regret it. When the two had had their fun, they decided to settle down. First, there was Rosalie Annemarie Blackthorne, whose extravagant name complimented her beautiful looks. Even as a baby, she had endearing blue eyes and shiny blonde hair, making her irresistible. Her birth brought joy and stress to the couple, but they dealt well. Two years later, Ivory had another child, a second girl, whom they named Adelheid Alison. She was different to her sister - her eyes were a soft brown and her hair was a strange mix of brown and blonde, looking ginger really. The two girls grew up quite loved. Rosalie, however, was the perfect child. She was beautiful, smart and sporty, even from the age of five. Later this would prove to be a problem. Adelheid began school optimistically. Her skills were average, she did her homework and learned her spellings. However, she expressed a particular interest in doodling freely. Soon enough, it was all she did. Adel would just draw whatever she felt like drawing, and could go on for hours. She also enjoyed reading books full of art and appreciating the pictures. As the days went by, she became better and better. And when the girl was six, her mother had her final child, Rory.
* ~ Six ~ *
Rory was a delight. He was small, laughed too much and made strange noises. The two sisters found him fascinating, and Adel loved to draw pictures of him. They seemed a picture-perfect family for years, and really were, until trouble erupted between the two girls. Well, it was more like an internal struggle. Fifteen-year-old Rosalie excelled in everything she tried. Her grades were perfect, she was amazing at every sport and was beautiful. Adelheid felt as if she was always being compared, and everyone, including her parents, wanted her to grow up to be exactly like her. The pressure was terrible, even if it was partially from herself. Her parents would always, when scolding her, say "Why can't you be a bit more like Rosie?" Rosalie's achievements were always noticed, and so were Adel's flaws. Her parents didn't consider her drawing a proper skill, and didn't think it would get her anywhere, so urged her to do something else. But she loved it too much, turning to art for everything. And slowly, Adel grew to hate her sister. She continued to draw, though never showed her creations.
Three years later was when disaster struck. When the flickering began, the whole family was at home, celebrating Rory's tenth birthday. The lights went out.
* ~ Two ~*
Suddenly, it was just her and the stupid little rabbit - Rosie's rabbit. Yet he was all she had. Unable to stand the family home anymore, Adel left with all the food and all her precious belongings. She moved to a nearby apartment block and bonded with the rabbit. But since then, blocked everything out. She pretended everything wasn't real, and created her own little world of drawings and paintings. Some might consider her mad, but she has convinced herself everything was all a dream, a nightmare. As long as she stays inside, Adel can do whatever she likes. So she stays in the apartment, follows her own little routine. And since there is no-one to snap her out of it, Adel will most likely continue like this until she dies.
Current Location;
She resides in a second-level flat. She fled her family home with Coby after her family was attacked, and ended up there, attracted by the large canvas through the window.

Talents;
{ Drawing / Painting}
A talent she seems to have possessed since birth, Adelheid has always been excellent at drawing, painting and sketching. She pays a lot of attention to detail, and is quite precise in whatever she produces. Her main focus is animals and landscapes, but she draws people upon request. Her inspiration comes from what is all around her – nature and the beauty of the world. She draws to express herself also, so if the girl was happy, she would be likely to create a sunny, beautiful landscape. Whereas, if she was depressed, she might draw an eternal dark night.
{ Hearing }
The teenager has exceptional hearing. Adelheid can hear a lot more than the average person, like a rabbit, but not nearly as advanced. This means she hears everything much louder than the average person, with sensitive hearing. Her ears are unfortunately damaged easily by terribly loud noises. However, this is quite a beneficial skill, as she is quite used to identifying things by sound, she can estimate what way footsteps are going, and whether they belong to human, Tenebrai or otherwise. When it comes to this sense, Adelheid does not miss a thing.

Biggest flaws/fears;
{ Impulsive }
See Personality; Impulsive
{ Jealous }
Jealousy is a natural human emotion, which comes to some easier and more often than others. Adelheid is among them, and she is prone to becoming jealous easily, and ends up hating people because of it. Her own feelings irritate her, since she knows it's not the person she is jealous of's fault, but Adel still finds herself being rude or ignoring the person, finding no better way to portray her jealousy. She's not the best at hiding it, as you may have picked up on.
{ Dying Alone }
Adel does not exactly fear death itself, but rather the thought of passing away, alone, with no-one by her side to reassure and remember her. She is terrified of dying alone, unwanted and forgotten- that nobody will ever care about her, and she will never be found, and if so just as ‘one of the dead.’ The girl would die happily if she was in someone’s arms, or even her name was just known to another living being. Withering away without company is something of utmost terror to her.

Mannerisms;
- Twists wrists in circles
- Random bursts of song/humming
- Shakes when uncomfortable or in fear

Dreams/ What’s important to them;
{ Family }
A dream shared by so many youngsters – to grow up and have a family. Adel wants to find the perfect man, marry him and have several children. She envisions them living in a large house in a family-friendly estate and living happily ever after. She knows from watching her mother that being a wife with children is not an easy job, but desperately wants to achieve it nonetheless. She dreams of having a group of people to call her own, all bound by love. It seems slightly ridiculous, even to her, so she will not own up to having such a dream out of embarrassment.
{ Artist }
Since she was a child, Adel desired to have a career as an artist. Being paid to create drawings seems like the best job in the world to her, and the girl is prepared to work hard for it, as long as she can achieve it. It is something she ‘needs’ to do before dying, and will probably not rest peacefully if she never becomes an official artist or have her pieces well-known.

Likes and Dislikes;
{ Rabbits }
Perhaps not before Coby, but when the little rabbit became all she had left, Adel decided she really did like bunnies after all. She likes animals in general, but her attachment to the grey Dutch rabbit is a bond shared by no other pet and owner. She has several sketches of Coby and other little rabbits in her pad, and they are the first animal that comes to mind when she starts a piece of work.
{ Art }
As an aspiring artist, Adel naturally appreciates all forms of art.
{Jewellery}
Adel adores jewellery. She likes accessories in general, but finds many necklaces, rings and bracelets symbolic or beautiful. She has a huge weakness for jewellery, and can't walk into such a shop without buying something. Currently, she wears three necklaces, a bracelet and four rings which she refuses to take off.

{Darkness}
Darkness represents the end to her, she sees it as nothingness, and Adel is terrified of that. She can't stand the dark, and so keeps a candle lit at all times. In the dark, anything could happen and she would not be able to see. The whole blindness is something she hates even thinking of, despite relying on her hearing. She just can't stand the thought of complete and utter darkness, where anything could happen and yet if nothing does, she is stuck forever in a black abyss.

Other;
{ Adel }
The girl’s nickname has always been ‘Adel.’ Her full name is quite rare in America, which is sometimes a reason for being teased, but it also means she is easily nicknamed. Her whole family, as well as her closest friends called her Adel. When speaking in third person, which she sometimes does to Coby, she refers to herself as ‘Adel.’
{ Coby }
Coby is a two-year old rabbit. He's small and ginger, with big ears and long nails. He was originally Adel's sister's rabbit, but when it was just himself and the black-haired girl left, he became Adel's. She relies on him like she would rely on any human being, and he is the only thing she converses with on a daily basis. He's a grumpy little thing who only allows Adel to hold, but not too demanding and able to survive on a small amount. He stubbornly follows the girl wherever she goes, as if protecting her. Before the family became just two, he wasn't exactly endearing towards her, but they bonded.
{Tattoos}
Her arms are covered in ink, though not proper tattoo ink. She has several symbols and drawings all over her body, mostly her arms and legs. Many of them mean things, such as her anti-possession tattoo (Adel believes in demons), her star which is there to remind her that there is always something to guide her in the darkness, and a black thorn, to represent her family and preserve their memory. They don't fade easily, and since she has very limited washes, lasts up to a month before she has to redo it.

Dark Requiem | Sign-Up Redtay10

Spot: The Brazen Mechanic

Name: Kris "Red" Taylor
Age: 18
Gender: Female

Dark Requiem | Sign-Up Divide10

Personality:

- Possessive

A life of being alone hasn't exactly made Kris a sharing person. Everything in her junkyard is classified as "hers", even if she hasn't found it yet. She is insanely protective over her belongings and throws a hissy fit when even a small object gets lost (or stolen in her mind). This is linked to how almost nothing was hers in the Rheaton Orphanage, and only things she was allowed to keep were often stolen by other children. Kris has an especially strong emotional tie to a rubber duck of hers from her childhood. It reminds her of her life before The Flickering, and is sort of a talisman to her. This is a reason why she is so attached to her things. If she has no worldly possessions, then why stay?

- Prideful and Independent

Kris has been on her own for a long time now, and ever since the day of the Flickering, refuses any help from anyone. It's not so much she has ego as to the fact that she's of afraid of being helped, and is not trusting with people. She even designs her machines so that she can operate them by herself. Kris isn't used to being a team player and is more likely to steer away from large groups, contrary to her dream of wanting a family. In short, a dilemma is created by her headstrong attitude. She is afraid of returning back to the helpless girl that she used to be be five years back.

- Sassy and Spunky

Years of repressed speech have made her not afraid to express herself. Although not mean about it, her words may get cutting as she attempts to "tell it like I see it." Red is very frank with her words and makes no attempt to sugarcoat anything. She knows when to hold her tongue, but she refuses to keep her mouth shut if its going to prevent someone from doing something idiotic or foolish. Many a times her sharp words have stopped younger associates from doing something stupid like doping. She feels her words give her powers, and is known for having quirky little sayings that she makes up on the fly.

Bio:

Spoiler:

- Chapter Two: Age 12-16

Spoiler:

- Chapter Three: Age 16-?

Spoiler:

Dark Requiem | Sign-Up Divide10

Talents:

"Fix-It Kris"

You break it, she'll fix it. She's been fixing/repairing machines since she was 6. It's one of the only things her father actually taught her before he was killed by gunfire. She's very good at creating inventions out of nothing, so never underestimate broken pieces of metal when she's around. Can she fix it? Yes!

-Sharpshooter

At age ten her older friend Bobby taught her how to shoot, and she hasn't forgotten. She might not have a gun, but it would be worth your while to give her one. Kris has an eagle eye when it comes with moving targets and used to practice on birds with Bobby's gun until he got arrested. It's a habit of hers to close one eye when she shoots, even if she's using a pistol. Kris is in the process of building her own gun now.

-Preparation

Kris has been living on her own long before Tenebrai started showing up. She's street savvy and knows exactly how and where to hide, what type of food is acceptable to eat, etc. She's always prepared for the worst, and was known at the orphanage for drawing out some pretty great plans for once she left. She travels light and carries only what she needs. Okay, she breaks that rule sometimes, but she makes sure to compensate.

Biggest flaws / fears:

( Flaws in purple; Fears in brown).

- She has a slight limp in her step from a previous encounter with Tenebrai. Kris still uses a crutch sometimes (her foot is currently in a cast). It seems to be healing up nicely, but most of the "pain" she experiences is simply from post traumatic stress. It should go away as soon as she realizes that the pain is all in her head.

- Kris has a weak nose that probably wouldn't smell smoke if her shirt was on fire. Some smells she can sense immediately, while faint ones such as flowers she can not. This worries her, because what if one of her temporary lodgings were to set on fire?

- She's afraid of being eaten Tenebrai; thus, her will to survive. When The Flickering first started to occur, Kris would have terrible nightmares about being torn alive by one of those things. Now whenever she has to fight one, her mind goes almost into a crazed state of panic. When time she was cornered by two Tenebrai, and she almost lost her mind and went berserk.

- She is deathly afraid of confined spaces; in other words, she's claustrophobic. That is why she prefers staying in junkyards and abandoned car lots rather than houses. That way, she has many more escape routes and area to run in. Let's not forget that junkyards also have all the material she needs to make her inventions.

Mannerisms:

- Pulling hair when frustrated
- Biting nails
- Stuttering when nervous

Dark Requiem | Sign-Up Divide10

Dreams / What's most important to them:

Kris has always dreamed of being part of a family. It's a very simple dream, but not surprising for an orphan. She yearns for the thrill of being able to call someone "Mom" or "My sister", and actually viewed as such in return. All she wants is to be able to confidently say "Someone loves me."

She also wants to become a world-renowned inventor. So there.

Besides all that, she really wants to get herself together. Kris knows she's a wreck, and acknowledges that cutting is bad for ever. She hopes that one day she'll be able to stop and get a better handle on her emotional state.

Likes and Dislikes:
(Dislikes in red, likes in green).

- Insects
- Thieves (small animals)
- Rust
- Reading
- Silence

- Metal Screws
- Rain and Thunderstorms
- Honey
- Hot showers
- Lavender shampoo/soap
- Sunrise

Others:

Cutting

She knows it's bad, and she knows she shouldn't be doing it. However, when you're living alone with no one to tell you otherwise, it's hard not to do it. Kris has an almost painful twinge that reminds her that she needs to cut her wrists. It's become an unhealthy disorder, but unless she does, she goes crazy. She started cutting after she woke up one day and thought she was in a dream. As a precaution, she now cuts herself every day to remind herself that she's real, and that she's not dead yet. Sometimes she cuts twice a day, when the nightmares get too bad.

Not Eating

Kris usually can't find a lot of food, so she only eats when necessary. Usually, that means once every two days. If she eats two meals in a day, she gets sick, since her body can no longer handle that much food in one day. Many times she's tried to wean herself into eating normally again, but she's stopped trying for a month now. The last time she tried eat normally Kris blacked out. Anything could have happened in that hour.

Spot: The Artist in Denial
- - - - -
Name: Lionel "Leon" Wright
Age: Seventeen [ 17 ]
Gender: Male
- - - - -
Personality:
[ Optimistic ]
He's optimistic to the point of denial—insanity, almost.

[ Imaginative ]
[ Unstable ]
[ Attached ]
- - - - -
Bio:
- - - - -
Current Location:
Leon currently resides in a small basement apartment located in the suburbs of the city where many people used to live; it has a single bedroom, shower, kitchen, and living room—all which has become his personal sanctum. He rented the apartment for a relatively cheap price the day the first flickering occurred.
- - - - -
Talents:
[ Animal Instincts ]
If anything, Leon has always been a rather observant young man, however, he is also naturally intuitive. Not unlike an animal, for some unknown reasoning, as a child, Leon have always been more innate than most of his peers—the fact that his senses aren't all that good doesn't justify that he's merely perceptive. Although his talent don't go as far as prediction, Leon's intuition is undeniably impressive; be it the absentminded feeling at the back of his head, or gnawing suspicion under his skin, his instincts don't lie—a strange talent that proofs extremely useful especially when having to deal with arbitrary blackouts.

[ Culinary Skills ]
- - - - -
Biggest Flaws / Fears:
[ Achluophobic ]
Despite being able to discern approximately when the flickering will take place, Leon is almost virtually useless once it occurs. His fear of the dark is overwhelming, and have gotten significantly worse to the point of ragged breathing and sudden coldness when deprived of light; this is due to the limited human interaction the circumstances have allowed. Presently, he is able to keep himself sane by sleeping during the day, but only God knows how long he'll last.

[ Physical Pain ]

Mannerisms:
[ interpersonal conversations ]
[ scribbling // doodling ]
[ fingers tapping restlessly ]

Likes and Dislikes:
[ L // Music ]
[ L // Flowers ]

Well, what's his personality like? If you want him to come off as tough and hardened, I would go for the second. If you want him to seem a bit more...mellow, say, the first one would do quite well. Personally, I prefer the second one because the first seems much too gentle for the Varro I imagined. Smile

Too serious, perhaps? You don't have to use them, of course. Wink

The first one is too gentle, and the second one looks like how he does in my head, but the expression just isn't right. Tori, remember how you pointed out that his character seemed slightly inconsistent? Not sure if you remember my response, but Varro from Chapter One is very different from the rest of the story so far.

"Was a traveler even before the Flickering started; comedic; enjoys living on the edge, but also has a deeper, more secretive side."

That's what I said in the description. Honestly, he's a "go with a flow" kind of guy, but also has a serious side. And he's supposedly grinning almost all the time. I honestly don't know why he was so serious in chapter one, haha. NaNoWriMo just changed him. So yeah, I just really wanted to find a grinning picture of him or something. I've already seen the first picture you had, but the vibe is far too wrong. And I can't see the second image. If I could somehow edit the picture so he was smiling, or something... if not I'll probably try to choose between the two I have already...
