“When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.”(Genesis 3:16)

'Therein you shall live, and therein you shall die, and from it you shall be brought out. ' (Qur'an 7:24-25).

“In an age of superb scientific knowledge and research, it is below our intelligence to believe that immortality is unattainable, and that we should succumb to the same affliction of imperfection as our forefathers. Gentlemen, I tell you not once, but twice, what I have concluded before: There is a cure.” – Dr. Iraj Najafi, 1967

S T O R Y

Over seven billion people live in the world, and every single one of them are born with a fatal disease called imperfection, or mortality. Imperfection causes its subjects to be susceptible to an ever growing list of other brutal diseases. However, imperfection is the greatest threat of all, because the ending is always death. Whether you believe it was caused by a tempted woman biting the fruits of sin or just the chemical make-up of our bodies due to science, the fact is established that no man can escape death. Ever since you were born, you were destined to die.

Divina disagrees.

In 1945, an Iranian scientist by the name of Iraj Najafi spoke out against the belief that all men were condemned to mortality. He claimed that there was an abnormal anomaly in all humans’ cell structures that could be corrected and enhanced, causing human bodies to become pure, or perfect. In another time period, perhaps his research would have been accepted. However, this was the year World War II ended, a year where many views on a superior race were now shunned and openly attacked. Dr. Najafi was forced to flee across Europe, until one day he met a man who also shared his views, a German man by the name of Niklas Fruehauf. Together they formed the Divina Association, which was an organization dedicated to creating an immortal race.

Knowing they would be persecuted, they established their headquarters on the mysterious islands of the Bermuda Triangle, where superstition and myths would keep any prying eyes away. There they have remained for the last seventy years. In 1965, after 20 years of research, the two partners finally believed they had enough research and data to begin testing on human babies. At first, they pay local natives to give up their children, in the promise that they will be well taken care of. As the babies began to die off from experimentation, the rifts began to grow between Dr. Fruehauf and Dr. Najafi. Just last year, they had created a serum named Astrum that was very powerful and gave newborn humans ingrown powers. However, Dr. Fruehauf argued that they should practice on animals until the serum was safe for children while Dr. Najafi held his ground. After a few years of locked horns, Dr. Fruehauf formed his own scientific society called Immer disappeared with a few of his followers in Brazil. When asked how he felt about this, Dr. Najafi angrily replied, "The show must go on!"

Fast forward to 1992.

Divina finally thought they had created the Immortal race when Adam and Eve were born. By this point, they were now taking children from the United States, as this country had the most ethnic diversity. Their DNA showed the adaptation to the Astrum serum, and their cells showed no signs of deterioration. At last, the scientists had finally created the perfect humans! Alas, it was a premature thought. Within a year, both subjects bodies were slowed down to a normal human's pace. Imperfection had claimed them again.

Scientist finally succeeded on June 14th, 1996 with the birth of four new babies of the immortals raced. Dubbed the "God team", the scientist specially assigned to train them began to teach them how they were going to revolutionize the world. They were given godlike powers and told that one day, they were going to use those powers to change the world. Meanwhile, the two failures from before were stripped of their names and simply called "The Venators," and hidden into a separate building far from the Immortals eyes.

In 2013, their plans were put in jeopardy when Immer returned.

P L O T

The Venators

Since you were four years old, you have been trained and experimented on to become the ideal human weapon. You were no longer treated "special"; after hundreds of painful tests, you were given powers, then treated like animals for your entire life. There is only you and the other Venator. You've only got each other in the world.

When you both turned twenty, news of Immer returning filled the Divina headquarters. You were now taught to use your powers sufficiently in case the "God" subjects were abducted and you needed to bring them back. However, three months after you turned twenty-one, the God subjects decided to escape from that horrible place. Good riddance.

Except that now you've been instructed to hunt them down and bring them back alive. If you fail, you will be killed. If you succeed, you will be granted the one thing you've always wanted: immortality.

The Immortals

Since the day you were born, you have been told your role in bringing about a new era. You have been told how your godlike powers will help bring about a new era. Yet, deep down inside, you have always had doubts as to what your real and true purpose is. You know that the scientists are hiding something. As you grew older, you began to wonder more what the real world was like, and are anxious to find out for yourselves.

You receive that chance when Immer kidnaps you in your sleep. Through a dream, they tell you that they are giving you the gift of freedom, and to use it wisely. Divina will now hunt you, and show you their true colors. Be careful.

Now begins your adventure.

Username: OurStars
Name: Hollis ____
Age: Seventeen
Role: Girl 2 - Flicker

P e r s o n a l i t y ?
{ Controlled But Passionate }
Hollis's powers are composed of two basic elements, wind and flame, neither of which are associated much with such things as discipline and restraint. However, such characteristics can be found in Hollis, a child born in fire and wind, capable of destruction without order. Most people consider fire to be a chaotic element, at best, eating everything in its path and volatile in the best of situations. Thus, Hollis would be expected to follow suit, would she not? In fact, the young woman does have a problem with feeling things much more intensely than the next person might. If she feels anger, it is a great amount of it, and sorrow is a tremendous burden on her. Likewise, happiness is ecstasy and affection would be a great deal of loyalty and love, for all of her emotions seemed to be magnified. When she was younger, such a thing was allowed by her to run free, for the young woman never had a thought to restrain her own emotions. Not until she realized how dangerous she could be when her emotions were left to run wild. While the happy times were blissful, her times of anger could unintentionally wreak havoc and cause pain to others. After several years, she learned to control her magnified emotions, pushing them down until she hardly seems to show them at all. They still exist, of course, in their augmented form, but she can keep that from tapping into her mind. It is for fear of exploding on others that she locks everything away, knowing that indulging in the good may put her off guard, therefore letting out the bad. She appears at all times to be neutral as far as emotions go, and it is quite a feat to make her show emotion. Once there is a crack, though, it is like a dam exploding until she can regain her composure. She usually hides such explosions, ranging from an hour of strange euphoria to of dangerous anger, so as to not harm or worry others. People may think her robotic and unfeeling, but she honestly is acting in such a way because she has no other options.

{ Practical & Pessimistic }
It has been a long time since Hollis was last a completely optimistic child, or a dreamer with her head in the clouds. She may have been raised being told that she, and the three others whom she grew up with, were perfect beings who would someday bring in a new era for the world, but that does not necessarily mean that she allowed such tales to go to her head. Well, honestly, she was a bit of a firecracker when she was younger, and did have a bit of an ego, but as the young woman grew she realized that, were such a thing true, she and the others would surely be allowed out of the facilities. After all, she is a realistic and logical person, fairly capable of finding the faults and pointing out lies, especially when they are so poorly hidden as those of Divinia. It perhaps helped that her controlled emotions allowed her to clear her mind in a way that may be difficult for others, and of course past experiences with being punished for harming others accidentally did give her a slightly less optimistic view on the world. She is a strong believer that everyone has faults, and therefore is unlikely to be too self-conscious about her own. Knowing that no one is perfect releases herself from the burden of comparison, but also disillusions her from a perspective of great heroes and that she and her companions are the embodiment of human potential.

Her realistic perspective allows her to assess situations quite well, as long as she has her emotions in line, and makes it so that she is unlikely to be swayed by the pretty words of others. She may trust others, of course, but primarily only the three whom she has known all of her life. Despite not having been in the outside world before, Hollis seems to have some degree of natural street smarts, not easily manipulated and quick to catch on to the best courses of actions. All in all, she is the sort of person who believes only in that which she finds logical, and in such a mindset finds safety and, in some situations, may find herself locked by a relatively closed mind. All depends on the situation, of course. At some times, perhaps it is better to have a dreamer's viewpoint, but for every person shooting to the moon, there has to be someone who can actually formulate realistic plans to make it there.

{ Independence and Her Word }
Hollis can only remember a few instances of being alone in her life, and even fewer of feeling truly alone. This is thanks to the constant presence of the other Immortals in their confined world. After all, even with the scientists fawning on them, the four only every really had each other to rely on. Hollis, however, is not the sort of person to voluntarily rely on anyone, even those three whom she considers her family. This is a stubborn part of her nature, the piece that dislikes the idea of owing anyone anything, even when she knows that they do not think of it in that way at all. She is perfectly capable of handling herself, and has never expected things to be served to her on a silver platter. She appreciates the extra flavoring of having earned something, and finds those who simply believe that they deserve to be served like gods rather repulsive. In her eyes, the true test of a person is whether they can stand on their own two feet and handle themselves on their own, not whether they can function in a social environment. She knows that times of need reveals who one's real friends are, but cares more about the fact that they can also reveal who one's own self is, beneath the softened barriers of luxury and shelter.

All of this being said, when she does need to rely on someone, Hollis has great perseverance in repaying the debt to them, even if they say that they do not want any compensation for their deed. Should someone give an apple to Hollis when she is starving, she will repay them with two apples, or something of that sort. That which she does, she does at twice the power. In her mind, an eye for an eye is not quite right. If someone attacks you without justification, than punishment should be served at twice the power, because you have an actual reason to attack them. The same applies for repaying debts and favors- if someone helps you without motivation, then they should be repaid in double. Although she is not easily corrupted, one way to manipulate Hollis is to make her indebted to you. A young women of honor, she never leaves loose ends untied, and never goes back on a favor owed.

{ Witty }
While many may view Hollis as the cold, no-nonsense type of person, she actually does have her own sort of creativity and humor, shown through her rather witty and sarcastic way of speaking. Sarcasm has the benefit of requiring little to no emotion, and it is through that which she may express herself as being something beyond the rigidly disciplined exterior which she puts up. It isn't uncommon for her to make small, sharp comments when she believes a plan foolish or someone's behavior ridiculous, and she can hold her own in a verbal fight, whether it be through using logic to explain her side of things or by verbally berating a person. In fact, she is a rather sarcastic person even when not trying to use the manner of speaking to express herself, and seems to have a quip for everything, even if she does not always voice such rebukes. 25% of the time, the young woman will bite her tongue so as to not cause any unnecessary tension. However, for the most part her words are blunt and reflect her own level of intelligence. Her words are far more creative than her other plans towards survival and such are, making her a decent conversationalist, as long as the other side is not overly sensitive to sarcastic remarks.

They are also her own, quiet way of trying to relieve any tension that may hang in the air. Normal jokes are difficult for her to make when keeping herself in line, but she can mutter a remark and kind of break the ice between groups. In the situations where she has engaged in verbal spars with others, Hollis has found herself to be a legitimate foe of sorts, quite gifted at noticing little things and then be able to note them from there.

P o w e r s ?
{ Fire }
Fire is known to be a rather volatile element, something which is difficult to control without a great amount of discipline. It has the ability to continue on its own, even after having been released from the initial wielder's possession. Hollis's fire is no different, though her power over the element of air does allow the young woman to deprive the flames of oxygen, thus extinguishing them, in some situations. If she had any other element, the red-haired girl might have come to possess a different sort of personality, but unfortunately that is not the case. Hollis's control over flames was once heavily based around emotions, and she would unintentionally burn and harm both scientists and peers, incapable of keeping her emotions in check appropriately enough to not hurt others. Over time, she began to suppress these naturally powerful emotions, leading to a personality dominated by a discipline, which constantly fights against emotions which appear the intensified version of those which others may experience. Hollis can create and control fire, but it is heavily dependent on how well she keeps her emotions balanced. It is something of a psychological battle, one must realize, because she has to utilize her emotions in order to control the fire, whilst keeping them from slipping out of control. She can be a danger to herself and others if she does not perfectly maintain this balance, and the burden often weighs on the young woman's shoulders quite heavily. As a side note, it is more difficult for Hollis to use her powers over fire if the environment is very cold or she is experiencing great inner conflict.

{ Air }
The power over air is something that does not come as naturally to Hollis as fire (which is to say that it is her primary element, complimenting her initial personality), and yet it is the one that she seems to prefer, even if she doesn't use it quite as often as she does fire. Her ability over air can help her to create small cyclones, blast things away with winds, etc, but her power over wind is heavily dependent on her ability to feel free. This is difficult when she is constantly focusing on keeping herself in line. Wind and air are elements associated with serenity, necessity, and freedom, not discipline and strong emotion. Air is not seen nor heard, a thing more mysterious than one thinks and infinitely calm. It contrasts a bit to her strong emotions and attempt to crush them, and she has to be sincerely calm in order to use the ability. Often times, she can be seen trying to improve her skills with the element, but she often fails at it. She will continue to fail until she better accepts her abilities over fire and begins to allow herself more mental and emotional freedom. She uses fire more often only because it is easier for her, but would far prefer to use wind if she could. She recognizes that both are crucial to each other, for without oxygen the fire would go out, and yet still her preferences are clear, contrasting with her nature and only adding to the conflict over her powers in her.

S t r e n g t h s ?
{ Quick }
As might be expected of someone with power over the racing wind and an element that burns through an entire forest in a day, Hollis is a rather fast person. Now, speed is not something alien to she and her companions, who are really more siblings than anything else, but she seems to be especially gifted. The young woman believes, for the most part, that the best defense is not being there. That isn't to say avoiding fights, but avoiding punches and kicks. No matter how strong an attack is, it doesn't mean a thing if it can't hit its target. She is very good at dodging attacks, and seems to have a fluid sort of movement that is rather helpful in this. She is somewhat graceful by nature, perhaps due to her agility, and doesn't waste movements if she can help it. This means that every motion is minimized, and seeing her show off is somewhat rare. She does what she needs to, but doesn't make a show of anything. She is fast, because she doesn't stop to make sure that she is impressive. Well, her leg strength helps as well.

{ Realistic }
Hollis has a realistic mind, despite having been raised in a world where she and her peers were praised as gods among insects. They were surrounded with a constructed sense of grandeur, but Hollis has always had trouble believing that she could be anything more than a person. This stems from her personal powers, especially her ability to create and, theoretically, control fire. She would accidentally hurt people, when she was young and had not yet learned the fine art of self control and emotional suppression, and doing this disillusioned her from any belief that she would not make mistakes, that she was in any way perfect, physically or mentally, as the scientists claimed that she and the others were. Perhaps the realistic mindset of Hollis also serves to make her pessimistic, and therefore somewhat shy of taking anything resembling a risk, even when it is something that absolutely must be done. She believes in every consequence and does her best to see it before it comes. The young woman may have pride, but she also has fear and caution, and this allows her to not be taken off guard by the negatives in life and the world. She adapts well to dire situations, because she expects no less.

{ Leg Strength }
As previously mentioned, Hollis has rather powerful legs, as they are stronger than her arms. They assist her in moving quickly, of course, but that isn't the emphasis of this specific mention of skill. Like all of the immortals, she has powerful punches. However, she prefers to kick people nine times out of ten, because her legs have a bit of power to them. She is able to jump slightly higher than others might, though of course this may be in part due to her power over air, which gives her a push further up, and to have her legs connect against you in a fight will lead to some level of injury, the severity of which depends on how thick one's skin is, and whether they managed to somewhat divert the force of the blow. This isn't some sort of mental trick or something that must be deeply read into. It's simply a strength, in the most literal sense of the word.

W e a k n e s s e s ?
{ Debts }
Hollis has a noble quality to her- this being the fact that she is true to her word, and will always pay her debts. However, honor rarely wins wars, as much as one may wish that it would, and her sense of honor may very well be her downfall. If the young woman promises to do something, one must have no doubts that she will follow through. Likewise, if she is indebted to someone for some reason or another, she is willing to drop everything in order to fulfill what one owes another. This may not seem too bad at first, until one realizes the broadness of dropping everything. She believes that to betray your word or refuse to pay a debt is a sign of a low character. If she were to owe a person a debt, she would be in their service until, by her own standards, the debt has been paid. This can stretch as far as betraying her own morals or standards, if necessary. Her honor may very well be her downfall, if she finds herself in debt to someone with malicious intentions.

{ Magnified Emotions }
One may not guess it, as Hollis appears to maintain a strict control over her emotions and reactions, but the young woman's emotions are actually somewhat more powerful than they should be. Air may be an element of calm, but it just as easily creates tornadoes. Fire, of course, is known as something of passion and lack of control, destroying and yet illuminating at once. For Hollis, the highs are mountains and the lows are trenches in the ocean, and sometimes her emotions are difficult for even her, who is so disciplined, to keep in line. If she were to loosen her reigns on her own psyche, the young woman's powers over fire may be completely driven by her emotions, and that has the potential to yield rather unfavorable outcomes, and a mess to clean up. This is why she denies herself most emotions, doing her best to minimize the destruction that she is responsible for by suppressing everything to the back of her mind, hoping that it will eventually fade away like ancient ink on a brittle piece of parchment. It is a weakness because, when she is busy dealing with an emotion, part of her mind is focused on that. It leaves her more vulnerable in a fight.

Username:

SoraAngel

Name:
Aya Shield

Age:
Seventeen

Role:
Amaranth (Female 1)

Personality:

{ Irresolute }

One of Aya's biggest characteristics is her indecision, and her inability to continue with one thing for too long. In many ways, Aya does not easily come to conclusions. She constantly questions herself and everything around her, and usually doesn't rest until she is satisfied. She gives up easily if things start looking hopeless - and this definitely isn't a good characteristic. She fears many things, and lets her fears for them overcome or cloud her judgement. However, she can become scatterbrained, and just as easily switch point of views depending on her mood or the atmosphere. She often falters or hesitates when stating something bold or making a potentially hazardous decision. She over thinks everything, the future especially, and constantly worries about what lies ahead.
Restless and erratic, Aya is always to keep herself busy so she isn't spending her time fretting over everything in existence. She resorts herself to strong focus when healing - which makes her so good at what she does. However, because of the constant debate in her head, she isn't very good in battle. Nonetheless, if her emotions are in control of something (if she's sad, or angry, or insanely happy) she can sometimes look past all her doubts and just act upon instinct. Still, such instances are rare.

Despite Aya's unsteady thoughts do not influence her beliefs. There are certain things Aya feels very strongly about, and a few nagging doubts won't lead her astray. Because of this, in moments of contradiction, she chooses instead to hone in on the things she is sure of and use them to propel her forward. She may be temperamental and may let people influence her easily, but Aya has some things of her own that she will always believe in.

{ Sweet }

It goes without saying that Aya is one of the sweetest people around. It must be realized that this does not mean she is better than anyone else, or has morality higher than others - it just means that she is always aware of the burdens on others and is never inconsiderate. She doesn't mind easing other's problems onto her own, but doesn't do it excessively either. She's always thinking of ways to brighten everyone's day, and does small things here and there (leaving cards under their pillows, singing a song for a person or two) to show that she cares. Other people's happiness makes her happy.

And likewise, others' sadness makes Aya sad. She gets depressed easily if her thoughts locate a lone shadow of someone else. She is greatly affected by her surroundings and is usually brighter when everyone else is so. However, she isn't completely aware of this, remaining oblivious to her strange dependence on others. Aya is almost always seen smiling, though she never hides it if she is sad. Despite her fear for the future, her indecision, her dark thoughts, Aya is a happy person because she appreciates the small things that come along and cherishes her friends.

{ Dark }

Aya is known to make jokes, and sometimes they are more scary than funny. This darkness is only a small side of her, the fearful side that is always saying danger lurking around the corner where her future lies. However, some of her sweetness is in this darkness as well, for a dark, creepy joke here and a wicked grin there is enough to make anyone happy. She is known to make odd comments that are strange and sometimes shudder-worthy, and she herself is a lover of satire and dark humor. She isn't sarcastic and usually states what she is thinking, but never holds herself back if she thinks of something that will make her comrades laugh and shiver at the same time.

{ Amiable }

Because she is so sweet and inadvertently dependent on others, Aya is very easy to get along with. Her wide smiles, secrets winks and dark jokes are enough for anyone to share their troubles with her. In a way, she's very motherly, and would like to be of help to anyone and everyone (although perhaps her advice may not be the best solution mos to of the time). She never keeps grudges - at least, not for long - and doesn't get offended by any comments directed at her or her beliefs. She forgives easily and shares her own thoughts openly, without restraint, making her approachable and friendly all at once. She has a warm aura about her that welcomes strangers. Because she is honest with people and is constantly worrying about things, she's likable. One would never doubt her loyalty. Aya is someone anyone can trust - most of the time.

{ Clumsy }

When nervous or afraid (which is often) Aya is clumsy and light on her feet. She's always breaking things and knocking into people or stepping on feet. She's deeply apologetic for it, but she can never quite manage to avoid trouble. Accident-prone, one can bet that she's always wearing a band-aid somewhere. Even when she isn't nervous, she is still usually falling or tripping. Still, Aya loves laughing about her lack of grace and finds it almost a gift because it's something that can make anyone happy.

{ Impatient }
{ Sensitive }

Powers:

Strengths:
Weaknesses:

{ Trouble }
Her clumsiness and impatience are always getting Aya into trouble. She doesn't ever intentionally go looking for it; she just doesn't think things through enough to be cautious and avoid it.

Relationships:

Views on Divina:

Expectations:
(What does your character dream about or want?)

Others:

{ Rambling }
{ Laughter }
{ Amaranth }

This was so hard to type.

Due to lots (and I mean lots) of things, I might to back out of this rp. And you what the worst part is? I don't even have writer's block--Jo's all sketched out in my mind, and I have, like, 85% of her character figured out. It's all just time (or the lack of it). I don't even know how I'm going to be able to finish Oliviana's skelly on time, much less this one so...

It's not very likely, but if by some miracle, I can have, like, three hours of peace and freedom, Jo will exist in Eden's Cage.

Sorry. I know I'm being a terrible rper at the moment.

That's okay. I hope that you'll have more time to rp with me in the future.

To everyone else, I'd like to say that I have a few doubts about starting this roleplay. Unless someone else wants to play two characters, I really doubt that another person will join. Also, this site has been very inactive.

You guys can let me know when's a good time for me to start this.

I'm good with starting whenever. Maybe we could just ignore the second V position? It could add to the whole 'locked up alone' thing or something? I was looking forward to this rp :-/ This place has been rather inactive of late, though.

EDIT: It's spring break for me right now, so if you want, I can make the second V. Alternatively, Hollis could easily be converted to fit it- she's already agile, and her inner conflict could come from accidentally creating horrifying illusions when her emotions flare.

I'll let you know, Kuno.

Tori, come back. ;_;
We need you. Kuno needs to have someone to rp with initially.

Actually, me going solo looks good Very Happy I'm used to being a loner. I refuse to let you turn Hollis into the bad guy. She's not wanted on the Dark Side.

Okay. I don't really need someone to start off with. HOWEVER, it would be preferred >_>; Let's just hope Tori can find time for this.

I've decided I'm going to start this Friday regardless of what happens.

@Tori, I'm going to roll solo for now. You can always join later, and we'll just bend the plot for your role.
